Cracking little spot - fantastically friendly staff and resident dog, great food, nice selection of drinks, amazing view. Well worth the effort to go, you can be there as a couple, group of friends or families with lots of things going on for the kids. Tip top.

We stayed at Lochmara Lodge on the last stop of walking the Queen Charlotte Track. Having looked at the accommodation on line, I wasn't expecting to be overwhelmed, but we were very impressed. We stayed in what appeared to be a new unit with a balcony and sea views. The room was big, well appointed, modern and very clean. The... More

Luxurious, spacious and modern rooms with beautiful furnishings and such a comfortable bed. I only wish we could have stayed longer to linger over the views from the bed and the balcony. Super size shower, all very clean and well maintained. Dinner was delicious at the restaurant and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing was the... More

Stayed there for one day with a one year old. Was very relaxed. Lots of hammocks, cute animals, some hiking and good food with nice views.

The ride across Marlborough Sounds on the water taxi offers wonderful views of this picturesque part of New Zealand. On arrival we were given lots of information about Lochmara and our tour. Lunch in the café was really good - way too much food. The highlight of the afternoon was definitely feeding the kakariki. These lovely parakeets flew down to... More

Lots to do here. After an enjoyable short boat trip across the waters, there are plenty of options here, including bush walking (tramping), kayaking, coffee and many other activities for kids.

Great hotel but expensive as they also charge for the water taxi from Picton and it's the same price as a day visitor, so we felt cheated by this and feel it should be free if you stay at the hotel or atleast reduced. I had a massage, was ok - nothing special and not worth the money. Restaurant was... More

Lovely place, nestled just under the Queen Charlotte Track. Some interesting things to see on site, such as pigs, and rare parakeets. A good onsite restaurant, if a little pricey, and we were treated very well by the staff there. A great place to go, just to relax.
