We offer one day cooking classes for small groups using fresh local, seasonal ingredients. Our one day scheduled classes are mainly demonstration where you will recieve a folder with the recipes and the chef will demonstrate each dish from start to finish. Everyone is then seated at the large dining table and eats each dish with matching local wines. Our classes generally run from 10 - 4pm. We also offer private classes and corporate team building days and these are tailor made to suit your needs.

I hopped off a cruise ship onto the wharf to the Akaroa Cooking School. 5 couples and I learned to make 7 courses including appetizers, side dishes, several preparations of fish and desert. Loved every minute of it! Great recipes taught with care and beautifully served...plus wine with every course. Somewhat pricey but worth it.

We went to the Akaroa Cooking school as part of our team building day. Lou was incredibly accommodating as we only had 3-4 hours available with them. We did a fun master chef style cook off, had demonstrations of what we would be eating for lunch and then got to sit down and enjoy a three course meal together. We... More

We absolutely loved our day at the cooking school. Beautiful food (most delicious creme brûlée I've tasted) and two extremely talented and personable chefs! Thank you so much Lou and Stevie for your time and expertise. We learnt a lot and would highly recommend to everyone visiting Akaroa :)

Got to eat. Got to drink. Want to step it up a bit then get some tips from the Akaroa Cooking School. The team took us through prep, starters, entree and main as part of a corporate dinner. Food was fantastic along with tasty wines overlooking the harbour provided for a memorable evening.

Being the first cooking class ever visited I didn't know what to expect. After very friendly E Mail communications with Lou though the welcoming and friendly atmosphere was no surprise. The place is located with a large glass front to the sea, yet Steve and Ant got my full attention. Loving Thai cuisine and cooking I learned so much which... More

My sons and I 'shouted' each other this experience while on holidays in NZ, we fully recommend it, we were greeted by Lou with a coffee and a delicious tart. Steve and Lou made the learning easy and fun with their conversational style. Ant's info on local wines was impressive as were the wines :) The food was delicious. I... More

I have just had a fabulous day at the Akaroa Cooking School with 3 friends whilst on holiday. The food was fresh, delicious and local. Lou, Kay and Steve are a very professional and friendly team. The cooking demonstration was very informative and well organised whilst also making you feel that it would be very achievable in your own kitchen.... More

Having heard great things about the Akaroa Cooking School I was looking forward to a great fun filled day but while it was informative it was not hands on and was not fun filled! The chef was good and gave out some tips which were helpful but I thought he really wanted to just talk about himself and his exploits.... More

This was our fourth class at the Akaroa Cooking School; A Day in Italy. Like the three previous visits it was a great day's entertainment including meeting fun friendly people, boistrous banter, sampling selected wines, learning lots, lots of laughs and delicious dinning. The hosts, Lou, Ant and Faye enthralled, entertained and educated us. It has been too long since... More
