Wonderful Experience. Would come again
Sep 2019
Even though we were clouded out from the view, to see the surounding mountain peaks popping up through the cloud cover was gorgeous. The tarns are simply wonderful. It's a very fulfilling experience. Inside is a little cafe where you can grab a bite/drink before decending. Not something you'd do with little children because it's mostly just views. Though down by Štrbské pleso there is a neat playground. The children in my group (9 and 13) enjoyed it. We had an unlucky coincidence where the clouds moved out for a couple seconds just after we had taken the lift down.

Expensive to watch a cloud wall. Couldn't see anything at all.
Sep 2019
Even before we started our trip to Slovakia we had decided that we wanted to go to the summit of Lomnicky Stit. The photos of the views from up there that we saw on the internet were stunning. The cableway ride is quite expensive 45€/pp, so 90€ for the two of us (and more than a tad confusing to buy and activate). We bought the tickets a few days in advance, to avoid them being sold-out. We chose the day, and then the time to go up by watching carefully the weather prediction. It was all for naught. When we were riding up in the funicular the clouds were already congregating around the mountain, and when we got out to the lookout platform there was a gray wall of clouds not 10 m away. We couldn't even see more than 3 or 4 m down! We spent there the maximum time allowed, waiting for a small break in the clouds, but it never came.
We were so disappointed that the next day, on our way to the south Tatras, we decided to try again if the weather was good. And it was, all-blue skies all around, except for a couple of not-too-large clouds. However, while we were waiting in line to buy the tickets (another 90€) one of those clouds wrapped itself around the Stit and stayed there. We started to doubt but, anyway, when it was our turn the tickets for the day were sold out.
What I mean is that you have a trade-off between waiting to buy tickets until the conditions are good (and you can see the views) risking the tickets are sold out, and buying them in advance and risking wasting the money to see a cloud wall. I just used the lowest rating to make people aware of this.

One reasonable and not too long skiing slope
Jan 2020
You need to book the trip to the top of Lomnicky peak much in advance. Available hours are 9:30 – 15:00 only. The view from the top is outstanding. There is a restaurant and 2 hotel rooms.
Skiing there is a fun for not demanding or not good skiing persons. Profi ones will complain...

Worth every penny for the stunning views (but we were lucky with the weather)
Sep 2019
We had a fabulous time on the peak, snow in September and minus 6 degrees, we were oh so lucky though, the peak was covered in cloud until the car reached the summit and then it just cleared, the views are truly spectacular.

This was my partners first trip on a cable car, so the unsupported suspension cable car trip for the last 855 metres surprised her!
While you are up there do not miss the opportunity to have what is probably the best hot chocolate ever, and this from somebody who does not normally drink sweet drinks.
The restaurant at the mid station is also good value for a lunch time meal.

Spend a night up the mountain, it’s worth the money
Oct 2019 • Couples
We have just spent an amazing night up on Lomnicky Stit. There are two rooms one that sleeps a couple and the other sleeps two couples or a couple and two kids if they don’t mind sharing. You also get a welcome drink, four course meal (which was very yummy) breakfast in the Dedo cafe, and a bottle of wine in your room.

We were very lucky to get an amazingly clear night, the sunset went on for ever and the stars were so close you felt like you could touch them.

The only draw back was the bathroom was down two flights of stairs and round a corner, not great if you need to go in the night.

Above the Clouds!
Sep 2019
As part of our Gate 1 Slovakia tour for 22 members of our group in late September, we, drove to Tatranska Lomnica, and from there boarded three different cable cars that took us to Lomnicky Stit, the second highest peak in the Tatras Mountains. The cars held 4 people, with the third car having a capacity of 15 people.

Our tour leader had secured tickets weeks in advance, which is necessary because the cable company schedules specific times for your ascent and decent. Warning: Be on time because the cable cars will not be held for you. Once at the top, you are given a number that indicates which group you will be in to go down. This too is very time specific!

Going up is very easy, even my husband who hates heights found this trip enjoyable, and non-frightening.

At the top (8,641 feet), you climb out of your car, and then walk up a series of stairs that takes you to the open-air viewing platforms. Hold carefully onto the rails because it can be very slippery on some of the rocks, especially after a rain, which was the case for us.

Each group is given approximately 50 minutes to walk around and take photos. High above the clouds, the platforms offers unique panoramic views of the mountains, and into several countries. Amazingly, wedding couples were perched on several of the outcropping of rocks being photographed.

Fifty minutes is more than an adequate amount of time to spend on the peak. Thankfully, there is a small cafe where you can stay warm as you wait for your group number to be called. The stairs are chained, and one can not descend to the cable cars until your number is called.

Additionally, hang on to all your tickets because you will need to scan them at the stiles before entering any cable car!!

Enjoy!!!

Top of Europe
Sep 2019 • Couples
Ok, not quite top of Europe, not even top of Slovakia, but high enough to feel on top of the world. And you get there by cable car - most other "Top of"'s you have to walk.

I think it's expensive, but I had it included in the holiday package. It's worth it. The day I was there had clouds rolling in. It was interesting and see inspiring at the same time.

You only get 50 minutes on top. For some that is more than enough. For me, I would have spent longer up there. There's a bar serving drinks including tea and coffee if you do find time on your hands waiting to go back down.

An awesome experience.

Touching the clouds
Jul 2019
This place is beautiful! I would definitely recommend to book it! Amazing view and great experience. I recommend to buy tickets in advance, because they are very fast clearance. The leaf must be bought at least two weeks in advance. On the screen you have time about 50 minutes, where you can enjoy the view and take photos or videos. Even in the summer it is quite cold and it is therefore necessary to take cooler clothes.
You can reach the top by three cable cars, so this trip must be planned for the whole day.
