Change of cable car to rope car
Sep 2019
Lake where people who traveling to Lomnicky peak have to change the car. Good place for tourist activity maybe in summer time. In winter time good place for skiing. Place of national observatory

Stopover on the way to the top
Jul 2019 • Solo
I took the cable car and wanted to go to the peak but had to wait a couple of hours here. It was not too bad - nice lake, beautiful photo opportunities and the restaurant is not too bad either. I found that the time passed quite quickly. The weather was good, so that helped. I am not sure how this would fare if the weather was overcast or cold.

Amazing Trip.

Waw what a trip this has been. I have travelled to Skalnate Pleso with my mum, sister and our 86 years old granny. We enjoyed our trip so much, beautiful scenery absolute winter wonderland. I would like to say a massive THANK YOU to the staff operating the cable cars for their professionalism and thoughtfulness. They literally stopped the cable car so my 86 years old granny can hop on and off, also they let us skip the massive queues. They treated us like vip s. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Glacier lake in the mountains
Oct 2018 • Family
This lake is an obligatory stop on a way to the Lomnicky peak. In the dry season there can be no water because during the building of the cable-car the isolation of the soil was damaged and now the water runs away. We visited in early October and came on foot from Hrebienok - very nice hike. There is a restaurant, hotel and nice playground for children - one is outdoor with the view of Lomnicky peak and another one is indoors FREE of charge for smaller children to play. If you wish to continue your journey up to the Lomnicky peak you HAVE to book your tickets in advance as it is usually sold out. We did not use the cable car and went to Tatranska Lomnica-START on foot which was a BIG mistake as the path is basically ski slope steep as hell! Do not recommend that. Otherwise the Skalnate pleso is a very nice place to visit and explore the lovely mountain views.

Nice Way Station Below Lomnicky Stit
Sep 2018 • Couples
Skalnate Pleso Translates to Rocky Mountain Lake. It’s the terminus of the eight person Gondola which is the second of three lifts used to get to Lomnicky Stit. The lake itself is much smaller than it appears on the tourist maps and the path around it is rocky in places. The restaurant has a large deck with tables and is a fun spot to eat, drink and soak up the rays and there is a welcome WC. Many folks go for a short hike along the trail that leads off to the right and passes the observatory. Most folks just go for some views, then return along the trail.
If Lomnicky Stit is socked in with clouds, a very worth while use of time, if it is clear there, is to take the open chairlift to Lomnicka Pass just to the left of the Stit. See our review and photos under Lomnicky Peak titled “Excellent Alternative if Lomnicky Peak is Socked In – See Mordor!”

Beatiful stop on the way to Lomnicky stit
Oct 2017 • Family
Transfer station on the way to the Lomnicky stit. When good better, providing awesome view and feelings. Place equipped with big restaurant, souvenir and clothing shop where located also playground for babies. Consider this place to stay longer when good weather and book another trip by cableway to the Lomnicky stit. Possible to get here also by walk from Hrebienok. But only for skilled persons.

Skalnate Pleso
Aug 2016 • Family
The Rocky Mountain Lake, also knowed as a Skalnate Pleso, is one of the major tourist spots in the whole of Tatra mountains, thanks to the web of chair lifts/cable cars, which are having their upper ends around the lake. There's also an option of taking another lift even further up either to the Lomnica Peak, or to Lomnica Pass. Many buildings around the lake, apart from mentioned chair lifts stations there's also a hotel and a restaurant. And in some distance from the lake, hidden from all that ski hassle, stands Skalnata Chata - the oldest building in the area, which has been there long before all those lifts were built.
