You can reach Barril Beach by an antiquated train, or walk the approximately one kilometre distance to the shore. Once there, at least two restaurants are available for meals or just a drink. And the beach is just beyond the dune --- pristine, lovely, serene.

Fun train ride and beach
Love beach to visit with children. Even in February it was warm and beautiful. We ended up going there twice because we liked it so much. The restaurants were also good. We took the train there and walked back.

Well worth a visit
What a lovely visit, 3/4 mile walk to the old tuna fishing village now respectfully converted to a tourist facility. Plenty of choices to eat, toilets open in winter and clean, beautiful sand and everything nicely maintained. A contrast to the Ilha de tavira at the other end…
