Be warned there's lots of steps down to the salt mine and lots of walking when you get there but it's definitely worth the effort. It's 15C down there so a welcome escape from the Polish winter too! Our guide was excellent and informative and the pace was just right. We used radio headphones to listen to her commentary and... More

Worth visiting, if you are fit and well. There are a LOT of steps. Our legs were feeling the burn the next day. But it is absolutely stunning and well worth it! We were lucky to have my dad on holiday with us to watch our young son because it wouldn't be interesting for kids. It really is stunning.

One recommendation, if you are staying at a hotel with concierge or have some time in your day to plan ahead, get your tickets earlier in the day so you won't have to wait in line as long. I really enjoyed the history of a place that was completely unknown to me, make sure to have a sweater or jacket... More

Awe inspiring, takes ones breath away . Words are not enough to describe this attraction . Make sure this is on the top of your list to visit when in Kraków . 2000 ft below ground .Chambers ,lakes and canals all man made . Cobbled paths ,chandeliers, magnificent carvings and statues all made from salt .Tour is well worth the price... More

Great friendly informative tour guide...we were in a small group which seemed better than some of the larger tours. Amazing sculptures and interesting talk. The average temp underground is 14/16 degrees...we went in January when it was -11 outside but as we were wrapped up warm got rather toastie down the mine

How exciting can a mine be? I didn't have high expectations, but a visit to Wieliczka salt mine near Krakow was an amazing discovery. The Polish people have really prepared the tourist route so that it does not fell like a mine, but very well maintained corridors with plenty of light and space. You go from one chamber to another... This is a great day trip from Kraków. No need to take a bus tour. Just take the train from the main station (half hourly) which takes just 20 minutes to get to Wieliczka (PLN 3.50 each way). The walk to the mine is an easy 10 minute stroll. An Individual Tour ticket in English costs PLN 84 per person... More

Had a great day, so much to see! The stairs were an effort but really appreciated the lift on the way back. The carvings were spectacular and photos didn't really do them justice

Absolutely amazing to see what people are capable of creating. The English speaking guide was funny and informative. Excellent train connection. However when you want to leave, you must wait until the (rude) polish guide decides there is enough people to walk the 20ish minutes to the elevator.

A once in a lifetime experience to head into a salt mine. Yes it sounds boring and yes it's not cheap... BUT it's amazing. Can't believe what they can do with salt, some of the stories are fascinating and the sculptures in the main room are unbelievable especially considering they were done by regular miners not artists!!! If you are... More
