Beautiful and small old town
Aug 2019
Spisska Sobota was once a town, but now it's part of Poprad.
It's Old Town is actually a big square - about 30 minutes to walk around.
But it's very picturesque square, can visit it when in Poprad, I wouldn't go especially for it.

Typical medieval place

You can find a church and a town-hall in the middle of the square. and in the upper part luxury houses of local patricians while in the lower part some smaller houses which were used by traders and craftsmen. Wonderful place to visit - by taxi from Poprad downtown it is rather cheap.

Quiet, beautiful old part of town.

You can walk here from the centre of Poprad, about a 15 minute walk, lovely old town, beautiful old buildings with different architecture, very peaceful and quiet, almost like a ghost town but there lots of B&Bs/Pensions and restaurants there too, also various info panels, in English too. Do also recommend visiting the church, it has lots of important, historic artifacts, one of the most important and oldest churches in Spiss.

Picturesque town center

The sleepier little town of Spisska Sobota adjacent to the city had a more picturesque old town that was worth a kilometer hike. As it was practically devoid of life, it was a good photo stop.

Special place, where time does not matter. I just enjoyed the beautiful architecture of thussmall town with its history. If someone is in Poprad or Tatry, he should visit also Spisska Sobota.

After reaching Poprad from Bratislava, entrance to High Tartars, I walked about 1.5 km to 16th century Spisska Sobota, an ancient, well preserved town of merchants and artisans. Town square is dominated by Romanesque Church of St.George with it's 1598 bell tower and the Immaculata statue of 1689. Next to square is Podtatranske museum displaying old urban household items, craftwork and sacral art. The incharge of Museum Ms.Radka was so kind and helpful as she took me round the ground and first floor halls explaining the significance of each of the exhibits with her fresh giggles. She also guided me to walk the streets and to find good cafe. The town is a classic example of well preserved medieval urban architecture and cultural, historical art monuments. The visit transported me to beauty and freshnesh of life and times of past centuries.

Beautifully preserved medieval town
May 2017
We visited during an unusually cool day for the time of the year, but still you could appreciate the beauty of the main square. There are cafés and restaurants that lined the square which I would imagine are a good place to energise before continuing to explore

Lovely in an understated way
Jan 2017 • Couples
The old town of Poprad is really lovely and very authentic albeit small and compact and without anything of major significance in terms of attraction. It's simply a genuine little old town and makes for a great wander if you're staying locally or a good walk from the new town centre (25-30 minutes). There are various pensions and a number of restaurants together with a small museum, but fundamentally it's just a nice place to while away a little bit of time to walk around.
