Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just along the Bojnice Castle (to the right of the entrance).
Parking is 100m from the Zoo and costs 7 EUR for the whole day.
Price is 8 EUR per adult person and 4 EUR for child for the Zoo.
You have 2 shops working at the moment in the zoo for the food and drinks or you can bring your own.
Animals are very playful.
Zoo is always interesting and great fun for everyone and everybody so if you have time visit it.

Nice and very convenient location just beyond the castle, on a hillside with plenty of shading, and solid paths for our baby stroller. Good selection of animals in reasonably-spacious enclosures and it seemed well-looked-after. There were the usual selection of cafes and little playgrounds. A good couple of hours and the kids were happy.

The zoo was old, rusty and The cages/areas for The animals were very Small. The areas for The bigger animals (elephants, tigers and Lions) can be described as depressing. The animals were skinny and looked genuinely sad. Through The whole trip in The zoo I didn’t see one singel person Working there. Would not recommend at all.

Most of the animals looked very catatonic. They do not seem to have enough space to move and life a dignified life. A very depressing experience.

Don not visit this place.

I make a rule not to go to traditional zoos as they are too often animals caged in small viewing arenas for the public viewing pleasure , I can only say we went for our three year old who is animal crazy. So the admission was cheap €15 for 3 adults and 1 child. My Slovak partner says she remember feeling sorry for the elephants as a teenager seeing the elephants in a small platform area, and hey 15 years later they still in the same enclosure with broken tusks and worn down were they have been braking branches to kill the boredom I guess. The lions three off them in a pokey area for big cats. The bear pit was dirty and general rubbish lying around it wouldnt take 1/2 hr to sweep up and clear the rubbish if not for the bears sake for families taking photos. If asked do the animals look healthy yes they do. But how about using the admission prices and dedicating the money to updating the enclosures. We did travel when the weather wasn't great and there was a lot of construction under way the pathways were treacherous with loose stones on the hilly sections and vehicles driving fast around the site not great with children about. The hill section is not for the faint hearted and quite steep. I would not go back to this traditional zoo without some upgrading to the enclosures for some of these magnificent creatures. Best to see these animals in the TV or go to an animal Safari type park.

I think the zoo has a lot of potential as it has nice surroundings. Unfortunately is not well kept the animals were cramped in tiny cages or aquariums..very sad sight. We had an accident and there is no first aid in the zoo????? Shocking! All they have seemed to be interested was to make money on the side with bouncy castles, rides etc. But the welfare of the animals is not their concern..it is just a tourist trap to get people in and make bussines from the stalls, ice cream shops etc.
I would never visit this sad zoo again and would never recommend it to anyone. I hope it will get shut down for yhe sake of the animals and they would be moved somewhere nicer to live. It has similiar feel as when you go to rescue centre and the dogs are all looking at you witb thejr sad eyes..hoping you would choose them and take them home.

Don´t go there if you dont want see animals suffer. Bear in dirty hole made of concrete. Lion - King of beast vegetating in 3*4 meters large terarium. Old, small and dirty cages and pavillons. Really worst zoo I have ever seen next to Praha, Zlin, Brno, Jihlava, Olomouc, Plzen, Vienna, Barcelona. Only one good thing is nice view on a beatiful casle next to zoo.

Being there during winter months, animals were kept in even smaller areas than normally (or at least I hope they have more space during summer months). Two elephants were kept inside with an area about 3mx3m each, they looked very sad, unhealthy and it was just a horrible set up for them. Also great animals such as leopard, wolf and lion had very small space to move around. Mostly very sad walking around, and seing the animals looking so confined, bored and sad. Would not go again, and would recommend to not support this zoo.
