Beware of extremely rude staff..
Jan 2020 • Couples
Lovely from the outside, don’t bother going inside especially if you are not native Slovak, also beware of extremely, extremely rude staff. No organisation regarding tours or purchasing tickets... no signs, oh and you can’t go in self guided my partner and I learned that the hard way including another international couple who was visiting at the same time as us, in which we were verbally screamed at by ‘the manager?’ Utterly disgraceful, save your time and money.

Beautiful castle
Dec 2019
It was such a pleasure to have the opportunity to visit this beautiful castle during Christmas time. Each room was beautifully adorned with Christmas trees and decorations, creating a fairytale atmosphere. The only thing that I would kindly like suggest is to provide audioguides.

Fairytale-like Castle--DON'T MISS VISITING!
Sep 2019
If I had to describe a fairytale castle, I would describe this one!! Its light pink sandstone towers and crenellated turrets make this romantic castle the most visited, and one of the greatest tourist attractions in Slovakia. Rising above the town, and steps away from the hotel in which our tour group stayed, it was originally built in the 12th century. In the 13th century, it passed into the hands of the most powerful Hungarian warlord of the time. In 1527, the Thurzo family converted the castle into a comfortable Renaissance residence. It's last owner, Count Paiffy, remodeled it into a stately edifice resembling the castles in France's Loire valley.

There are many stairs to climb, in order to reach all the floors and levels, but it is worth it. Just take your time. Each level is just as amazing as the last. The Golden Hall features a magnificent, intricate ceiling made of pine and covered with gold leaf. It was modeled on the interior of the Venetian academy of Arts. Many of the walls feature some of the most intricately carved wooden paneling I have ever seen. All the many levels feature gorgeous furniture and valuable paintings. And look down at some remarkable flooring beneath your feet! The top floor features the Knight's Hall.

The castle sits in a large park with many rare species of trees, including what is claimed to be the oldest lime tree (600 years old) in Slovakia.

A tour of a cave recently discovered is included in the tour. Skip that part. It is dark and dumb!

The cave aside, this is the most romantic and beautiful castle that my spouse and I have ever visited! DO NOT MISS VISITING !!

Nice afternoon
Dec 2019 • Solo
Arrived at the castle after a couple of minutes walk from the car park.
There were 3 choice of tours & I chose the one that includes all areas for 13€, to find out it was actually a free day (result) then to be told all tours today would be in Skolvak I was then handed a leaflet in English telling me all about the castle & the places we would be visiting. (They do, do English tours).
Walking around the castle stopping in the different rooms and areas was really interesting with lots to see, the guide seemed to know what she was on about and all the locals were really interested in what she was saying.
Once we’d been around the castle the last stop was the caves underneath which were really nice also.
The tour lasted approx 75-80 minutes.
I would like to go back again with my family and arrange for an English tour.
The zoo is also next door.

Magnificent
Sep 2019 • Family
The most complete castle/palace that we have been to in Slovakia. Breathtaking! Definitely worth a visit. The interior is also worth a look at. The restoration of the Palace is remarkable. Unfortunately we missed the Only English tour (11am) the day we visited, so we did a Slovakian tour. We did not understand much but they did give us a a detailed pamphlet giving us info on what we saw. The tour was about 75 minutes. So it was not too long. Definitely worth a visit. There are many activities and restaurants close to the Castle.

Fantastic Fairytale Castle
Sep 2019 • Couples
We visited the Castle on 8th September 2019. There is good transport facility from Prievidza Aut. St. to the Bojnice Castle. Bus No 51 (Operated by SAD) (yellow coloured bus) offered us a free ride to the castle from here ( I'm not sure why they did not charge the ticket fare) If anyone is aware please let me know. The castle is one of its kind. This castle tickets cost 10€ per person if we choose a tour for only Castle or only the gallery. The tickets are 13€ per person if we want to see the entire castle and Gallery (where the antique furniture collection is displayed to public). This Castle has 184 rooms out of which only few are open for visitors. These tours have guides who takes us through the history of the castle. Maximum tours are in Slovak language however we were lucky enough to make it to the time for English Guided Tour (13.00 hrs) which lasts for maximum 1.5 hrs. The ticket counter is closed for lunch from 12.00 to 12.30 hrs. There are few ice-cream shops near the castle and a coffee vending machine behind the shops. There is a beautiful garden surrounding the Castle and a beautiful place to relax after a tour in the castle. Tips for anyone with joints / knee pain or baby strollers - there is no elevators and we need to climb almost 5 floors. There are Good Restaurants near the castle. (Did not try any as we Don't eat Beef n pork we always carry our own lunches). Overall a good experience and a budget friendly one day tour which did not cost more than € 50 for 2 people.
