Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This beautiful basilica is located in the Main Square, that is the part of the UNESCO World Heritage. It’s one of the richest cathedrals of medieval origin. St. Egidius was the patron saint of goldsmiths. The basilica has a rich but hard history with earthquake, lightning strike, fire. It was renovated in the late 1800s then it was completely renewed in the 1990s. Now it’s majestic with its eleven original Gothic winged altars. We visited it, the entrance fee is 1.50 euro, but it’s worth. I liked it very much, I think it’s a must-see site.

First of all, the setting is divine! A medieval church in the middle of a cobblestone square, within walled city that has been lovingly restored.
Delightful village! We paid a few euro for privilege to climb the stairs to top ... while narrow and a LOT of them, well worth the trip. The view is incredible. Almost made me forget about the creepy flying insects that swarmed you.
Some nice shopping possibilities here too.

Bardejov was a unique stop, in our memories. We enjoyed the quiet square by having a cappuccino at one of the cafe's that has seating on the perimeter of the square. Unfortunately, we arrived just as the entrance to St Egidius Church closed (4pm at that time of year), so we were unable to climb the the viewpoint. That being said, it may have been less busy at that time due to that fact and we had the square to ourselves. For that reason, I would recommend arriving at the end of the day (although make sure that you check the opening times for the church before arriving).

This basilica is an amazing feast of late gothic architecture. It houses 11 altars and you can spend quite a long time studying them.
There are English descriptions near every piece and you can also buy books by the entrance to the basilica. During our visit there was a beautiful church music playing in the background giving it a magical atmosphere. If you want to photograph, you can do so for a small fee.

This church is situated on the unique historical square in Bardejov. I recommended to visit the tower from where you can enjoy beautiful whole city view.

For 3€ you can buy a ticket to visit the church inside as well as climb the tower to admire the view on the old market. The staircase, however, is very narrow and scarcely lit.

Excellent visit. You can climb the stairs up to the tower and see the entire city. The altars are magnificent and the entry fees are very reasonable. A must see when in the area.

I'm glad I drove from Presov to see his wonderful town. It has a small historical center but very well maintained There's a small park near the bell tower which has a lovely musical fountain.

Bardejov is a gem of a small town - it was very quiet with few people around even in the middle of July. You can do the whole center in a couple of hours.
If you wish to visit the many wooden churches nearby, pick up a map from the tourist center. You need a car AND, in order to see the interior of these churches you must either call ahead and arrange a time, or call on arrival. We were only able to see one of the interiors, but it was still worth the visits. The tourist center offers a tour of 4 which would be a good idea to view the incredible interiors.
