Market square
Jun 2018 • Family
Obviously every market square is a core part of the town. In Bardejov their market square is also a core part of "Bardejov Town Conservation Reserve", which is the name, under which Bardejov found itself inscribed onto UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. One of the finest squares I've seen so far, surrounded by very old townhouses, with a church closing the northern side. Former town hall, hosting a museum these days, in the middle. Also some statues and a small water holding structure, exaggeratedly called a fountain decorate Namestie. Shops and restaurants all around. Best view of the whole square is from main church tower. Great starting point to any adventure in town.

hidden gem

Bardejov is a hidden gem. The town from the list of Unesco monuments, which you should definitely visit. The walking areas of the medieval city are a great tourist attraction.

You Should Make Stop...a really beautiful town!
Sep 2018 • Couples
We were so glad we stopped in to quickly visit this old town square. We easily found parking just outside the town walls and had a short walk to the square. We couldn’t believe how beautiful it was, with its unique town hall, executioner’s statue, old painted medieval buildings, lovely little shops and restaurants.
We really enjoyed the museum inside the town hall and wandered all around for a couple of hours.
This town is beautiful and is definitely worth a stop for an hour or two. One of the prettiest town squares in Slovakia,

Beautiful Historic Town Center
Jun 2018 • Couples
Bardejov is the town where my mother grew up. While she and her surviving siblings moved after WWII, she always told me how beautiful the town was. I finally took the "Roots" trip this summer and Bardejov was truly as special as my mother described. She grew up in a townhouse on the main square, Radnicne Namestie, and it is remarkable how well preserved and beautiful this historic town center is. Mom said it was a "Kings' City" in medieval times and it is clear why. Walk around the full town center including the side streets to really get a feel for what life was like in eastern Europe for centuries. Do not miss the Jewish Heritage sites: the beautifully restored main synagogue, the Holocaust Memorial and Bikur Cholim Synagogue. It will bring you an experience of what Eastern European Jewish life was like that no book or photo could ever communicate.

Sleepy 800 year old town of Bardejov...
Jul 2018 • Couples
We came here on a Sunday so the church had a service underway and we didn't fancy the museum located opposite due to lack of time. But we did capture many lovely pictures of the square with the church its dominating feature. The square is surrounded by cute gothic style buildings all with red tiled roofs and different coloured exteriors. Area inside the square is all pedestrianised with benches all around to take advantage of numerous free wifi spots. A lot of the buildings with businesses looked closed maybe as it was a Sunday, but great for us as no photo bombing.
Once viewing the centre, we then walked around the outside to see renovated sections of the towers and wall. Then all we tried to do is work out where the 30k population were hiding at the time of our arrival...

Great sight-seeing at the city centre
Feb 2018 • Couples
One of the nicest city centres Slovakia can offer (included in UNESCO heritage) and you cannot make a mistake to make a trip there. Small problem - Bardejov is a bit off the hand and you need to travel a bit from other parts of the Slovakia.

Bardejov
Jul 2018 • Couples
Beautiful old town city centre. Pity is that this part of Slovakia is so poor and all kind of businesses are fighting for surrvival. Maybe thats why the old town square was so empty with almost no life, with just a few caffe shops or one or two souvenir shops. It was also sunday but in the middle of summer so you would expect more life in such nice location.

Beautiful and quiet
Jul 2018 • Family
An intact medieval town square. Very impressive and superb for photos as so quiet, we were there on a Sunday afternoon and it was easy to get photos without people.
It isn’t touristy, a few bars are around the sides.
Very beautiful, worth a few hours if you are traveling through.

Keeping the traditional layout
Jun 2018 • Solo
This square keeps the traditional layout where the town hall and main church is located in the middle of the square. Most of the buildings around the square are well preserved. So the square shows how mediaeval towns looked like.
