Town hall
Jun 2018 • Family
Town halls are usually most important buildings in every town. But the one in Bardejov must even more important, as it is listed no less then three times here on TripAdvisor: twice as "Saris Museum - Town Hall" and also as "The former "townhouse"". Hopefuly TA admin will now look at it. This town hall looks pretty much just like a ordinary town house, only its location may be slightly weird, as it stands in the middle of the market square, as a propper town hall should. It is now a part of Sarisske Muzeum Bardejov, where Saris (or Šariš) is the name of historic region of Slovakia, which used to be split into Horny (upper, north), with Bardejov as a capital, and Dolny (lower, south), with Presov as a capital. Entry to the museum from north, opposite St. Eligius Basilica, by the former side entrance (as the decorative main entrance no longer in use), where ticket office and souvenirs shop is located. Two floors filled with artefacts from rich town history, also thehistoric interior design of the building is very interesting even without exhibits. Definitely should be a starting point of exploring Bardejov.

Wow! And amazing collection!

This small museum was truly amazing! Built in the Middle Ages, this town hall is full of interesting artifacts, religious artifacts, wood carvings, chalices and weapons...the list goes on and on! We were extremely impressed by how much this small museum contained...one of the best collections we saw in all of Slovakia.
Make sure you go and see it as it is really worthwhile to visit it.

The Saris Museum is worth seeing at the beginning of visiting Bardejov, as you will get information about the fascinating city history. You will learn about the school of executioners, the Jewish community and other interesting information. The ruins of the town's defensive walls are worth a visit. In the Middle Ages, there were 22 bastions, barbans, three gates and a moat. Each bastion was associated with another craftsman's guild. It is worth to take an hour to walk and see 9 preserved towers and 3 gates.

I like how this building is saying to all the others, how it doesn't care about the order and will stand in the middle of the square. Fasade is beautiful.

The museum has three floors housing a large collection of historical religious artefacts taken from different churches in the area. Other exhibits included coins, fabric, important documents related to Bardejov’s history. Worth visiting.

A charming little museum.

This is an exquisite, charming little museum located in the old town hall in the even older Medieval town square. Besides charting the origins of the town and its history, there are displays of period clothing and medieval weaponary etc. Upon entering the main door, which faces the church, the ticket office is located to your left. It may be necessary to knock on the office door to attract attention.

It is historical but intact and original. Standing inside the city square, its center position is unique and the architecture is gorgeous.

Nice historic place!
Jun 2016 • Couples
Very nice exhibition. Good place to see, especially for history lovers. There was only one problem during our trip: they let us wait (during business hours) outside for almost 40 minutes! The museum suppose to be open, but nobody was inside. After long time of waiting, the stuff member finally showed up with some stupid excuse. It damaged a good impression of such nice historic place !
