If you are anywhere in the vicinity, a visit to the Herend factory and museum is a must, even if fine porcelain is not your cup of tea. It's a fascinating place, one where you can get up close to the artisians as they hand paint some of the exquisite items made on the site. Herend Porcelain is known, and... More

Ever wondered how porcelain is made? Here you can see it. The short intro movie is rather a surreal ad, but never mind. As you go on, each phase of the porcelain making process is shown by the workers of the Herend Porcelain Manufacture. When they are not doing this show, the workers produce those amazing pieces sold at the... More

Glamorous china. It was interesting to see how the porcelain is produced, and painted. Beautiful museum for a cheap price. At the end you are offered a good caffee from Herend's china cups.

The Porcelanium includes the factory museum and a display manufacture, which you can tour. You can visit the museum of the manufacture on your own, here you can see amazing pieces of porcelain ranging from cups to huge vazes. You're guided through the factory's history explaining the biggest customers and how the different patterns of the Herend Porcelain evolved over... More

We decided to visit Herend to see the porcelain factory. We checked on hiring a driver. When we were told cost it was to high for our liking we said do it by ourselves. We left Rivi train station to Herend after 3 trains and one bus got there. We walk from train station is about 15 minutes. I would... More

As an American I had not heard of Herend before travelling to Hungary but I'm glad we stopped and checked out the factory. The tour was well done, with a movie and working examples of the stages of production - forming, painting, etc. The guide ( and everyone else ) spoke very good English. The museum was nice and it... For the price was payed we had an amazing tour around the factory started with a 3D movie then walk around to show us step by step, how Herend porcelains are made. Those highly professional people in the processing and that such a detail oriented, punctual, particular and long hand work with every china made them very special and can... More

I admit I am a lover of Hungary, having lived there for 6 years, but a visit to the Herend porcelain factory is really a must do if you are in Hungary. The tour itself is fascinating and the museum equally inspiring - the staff are helpful and friendly but most of all very knowledgable. The cafe is a real... More

We really enjoyed our day trip to the Herend factory. The tour through the process of making china was excellent and of course the shopping was fun! The museum is also well worth your time to see the history of porcelain in Hungary. Make sure you stop in the cafe for a coffee or tea - served on Herend china.
