About
During more than its 700 years existence Narva Hermann Castle belonged to Danes, Germans, Swedes, Russians and finally Estonians. The castle’s appearance as we know it today originates from the 14th-16th c. from the period of domination by Livonian Order.Today Narva castle hosts a museum where one can see both permanent exhibition on Narva city history as well as about a dozen of temporary expositions.A beautiful view of Narva city and Ivangorod fortress on the Russian side can be admired from 51 metre high Tall Hermann tower.Each summer the artisan history centre Northern Yard comes to life in the castle’s northern yard.

One more place to really feel the history. With a guide or information from a local this experience becomes even better. Really knowing what happened long long time ago, makes you respect and understand what this place is really all about. Make sure you go there during the summer, because it provides more activity and enjoyment.

I liked this place, maybe because I have this interest of historical things. Also interesting to see the architecture and the wiews to other side of river Narva.

Very nice place with two castles, onde in Russian and the other in Estonian. The view is wonderful. I recomend a stop when traveling between the 2 countries.

You can't fail to miss the fortress - easily the most impressive building for miles around. It's quite an experience to go up to the top viewing gallery and literally look down onto the castle on the other side of the river - in Russia. Although (for now) thankfully peaceful you can really imagine how important this place was during its time as a defensive position.

After visiting, I felt the outside was as impressive as the inside. Very interesting articles from long ago. At only 6 euros the admission fee can't be beat! The staff were all very inviting which made me feel more welcome. A must see while in Narva.

Walk in with pet in park and in territory of castle is strongly prohibited. I was there with toy dog, Security staff is active and commanded me to leave immediately

Impressive fortress, and very well kept. A bit dull when you get inside - although the gallery at the top of the Tower was worth the stairclimbing :-)

the castle was ok. the view around is really nice, the river and valley is really picturesque. there was a marathon which added the interest..

Our group were guided on a tour that was more like a theater performance. We fought with swords, danced, went through narrow tunnels and enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire at the end. Great experience if you book a special group tour.

This is the most beautiful landscape in Narva. There is meseum inside that you should visit when you are in Narva!
