The museum itself provides a lot of artefacts, information is only available on folders in every room. I would totally recommend to take a tour guide (costs 15€ for an English tour).

This museum charts the importance of seafaring to Riga, there is an impressive collection of model ships of vessels over 1000 years, there are also some very interesting archeological finds including weapons and tools

Here you will find out about how the Hanseatic league came to be. Before premiership football in the fifteenth century the central European tribes around the Baltic sea had a football league. It was called the Hanseatic League after the term Hansa which means guild.
