In the summer this would be a fantastic place to visit but mid-week in December most of it is closed, locked, barricaded and the shutters are over the windows. However we did walk around some of the areas and there are information boards for most...More

We caught a bus from the old city, it was an experience in itself,we were told the wrong spot to get off, but that wasnt a problem as we just walked back. So many different structures to see and we just loved our time here.

The museum is very good, and cheap but only three of the buildings were actually open when we visited in December. The people in the buildings could not speak English but one nice man communicated to us the use of the fisherman's house where a...More

Gret location just outside the city and easily accessible by taxi. Lovely way to spend a day or afternoon and learn about Latvian history. Food in the restaurant wasn't great.

We visited on a weekday at the end of October, so only two buildings were open. It was still a pleasant place to wander around and easy to get to on public transport.

We visited in mid-October when autumn colours are spectacular. Fewer buildings are open (reflected in reduced entrance fee), but still enough open to give insight into rural way of life. Covers large area (c120 buildings) in forest & by lakeside. Good weather needed but well...More

No - but there is a cafe bar at the entrance who might help if you ask them. Alternatively you could leave them at Riga railway station as they assuredly do have left luggage.

It depends when you arrive! In summer it stays open till 20:00 but most of the buildings close at 17:00 - so between 17:00-20:00 admission is 1.5 euros but up until 17:00 it is 7 euros (with concessions for children... More
