Set in and around 6 Zepplin hangers brought from Germany this market is a must if you have half a day to spare. You can purchase a cheap lunch from small cafe's dotted around the hangers washed down with a local beer. Or a vodka to keep our the cold. Don't miss the fish market you won't see fresher fish anywhere... More

Heard lots about this central market so we stop over on our city sight seeing tour to have a look. This market is very clean and well managed. Foods are abundant and fresh. Except December is very cold here. We found quite a few restaurants and coffee house near the market. It seems to me people here eat lots of... More

Riga central market advertises itself as the biggest European market, and I think it's true. Four huge former military hangars are converted in an enormous market. It covers a very big area, and in each hangar different kind of food is sold: fish in one, meat in second, fruits and vegetables in third and dairy products in fourth. The supply... More

This market is Europes biggest market and bazaar. It is one of the most formidable buildings in Latvia and has been listed in UNESCO site list. The main structures of the market are five pavilions constructed by refurbishing old german zeppelin hangars. Finding it is fairly easy as plenty of people move toward that area. Also public transportation goes directly... More

A large market that has a number of outside stalls selling mainly clothing and also includes several old Zeppelin hangers. Every type of food imaginable is on sale with huge variety of smoked fish, meats, fruits, bread, cakes and vegetables. Had hoped there would be some eating places inside where we could have eaten freshly cooked seafood but only saw... More

Went round here on a cold wintry morning and it was still worth the walk. Only minutes away from the old town and a completely different crowd. The market attracts between 80,000 and 100,000 customers a day and it's the place to go to view local fish and meat products.
