This is another Stalin's gift to the former eastern block (the first one is in Warsaw, although at those times Latvia was part of USSR). It's a massive stone structure modeled on US skyscrapers like all 7 others alike in Moscow. It's a multi purpose building now, but for travelers the most important is the top observation deck. With only... More

Did not go inside but from the outside, the building looks really magnificent. Check it out on a sunny day.

I took the lift up to the 15th floor, then climbed a further two floors to the viewing platform - this gives stunning views out over Riga. A very Soviet-style building!

This imposing Soviet-era building is unmissable due to its grandeur, and a visit to the top provides some of the best views of Riga. There's nothing more to really see after that, and it's in a run down area.

This is worth a visit, since it gives you a good overview of the city, but the tour is NOT. Mind you, 30,- is a ridicoulous amount of money in Latvia and you might as well read up yourself... In short: unless you are an absolute architectual design/history lover, just go for the view.

Especially on a clear day you can see miles in the country and city. You see the main attraction as well as the old houses that should long been torn down. The admission price is €5 and is just a bit too expensive I think, but furthermore nothing to comment, just to do it.

This imposing and elegant building, located a few blocks south east of the railway station, offers amazing views of the fine city of Riga from its panoramic viewing platform on the 17th floor. The lift only goes to Floor 15 so be prepared to walk the last 2 flights; but you'll be glad you did. We were alone up there... More

We stumbled across this building by accident and we were so glad we did. Great views of all of Riga. It was quite open plan at the top so perfect for pictures. €5 a ticket making it cheaper than St. Peter's church viewing point.

This bulky huge building - a reminder of the Soviet era -- features a great panorama terrace with 360 degrees of views over Riga and its surroundings. We also found interest in the architecture, especially the entrance hall. Worth a visit on a bright day.
