Just returned from the theatre after watching the Nutcracker ballet, it was absolutely superb . Many children with parents etc. , this was certainly not a distraction , you could see the look in their eyes at the wonder of such a beautiful performance .

We booked tickets to see Peer Gynt mainly to see the inside of this building. What we were entertained with was a ballet of stunning brilliance. The standard of the dancers, musicians and settings was as good as can be seen in the 'major' ballet companies of Europe at a fraction of the price. In fact, we worked it out... More

Nice building, both outside and inside. If you have the chance, buyt tickets for the opera. It is cheap, and you can expect great performances. Check the agenda in advance.

I wanted to see the inside of the theater but there were no tours during my stay. So I purchased a 3rd row balccony seat for 21 euros (there were only about 10 seats left in the theater!) THe interior was gorgeous and the performance quite good. I am not into opera, but I did enjoy it. And I was... More

This is probably one of the very few operas in Europe where you can enjoy high-class ballet and opera at pop-culture prices. I try to visit as frequently as possible. Beautiful interior. In summers, you can also enjoy your cup of coffee or glass of wine on the Opera House's balcony with a beautiful view of the small park in... More

Watched a modern version of Bolero at the National Opera House and it was amazing. The building is stunning and the performance lived up to expectations. I was a bit wary of the dress code, as stipulated on the Opera House's website, so wore a suit without a tie. Although most of the audience were smartly dressed, there were plenty... More

Just been treated to superb performance of Madam Butterfly.... magnificent ! Many National Operas are stuffy formal places. Whilst RNO is very classical building the atmosphere is very relaxed and nobody looks down their nose at you if you are wearing T shirt and jeans ! Tickets very realistically priced, facilities good would highly recommend !!

This opera house has a beautiful garden, so you can take a rest here before you walk around the park.

Saw the "Bolero Ballet" there. Orchestra was mediocre to good , the dancers seemed very young and lacked maturity and confidence. As it was mid August when everyone is on vacation , maybe we were seeing the youth troop , the coming generation of dancers. The soloists were good and professional. The problem was the seats. Third or fourth tier,... More
