A nice walk inside and outside the castle ruins, stunning view from the tower, medieval atmosphere. Especially beautiful in the autumn. Apart from the ruins, there was also a possibility to visit some exhibitions.

I took a day trip from Riga to Cesis by bus. From Cesis bus terminal, it is about 15 minutes walk to the medieval castle. There is a 'new' castle' and an 'old' castle according to the ticket office. But, when I was there that...More

The castle is well worth a visit. There is a trip up the tower by lantern candle light which the children loved. We parked on some hard standing nearby.

A few great things here. They seem to have sought a balance between original and restoration, leaning to the restoration side to allow us to get a better picture of what it was like back in the day. The work continues and likely there will...More
