If you are looking for some quiet and to watch the world go by, this is the thing to do in Tartu. There is no guide. The boat goes to the north edge of town (at the beach), and then turns around and goes south (past some rather modern, expensive looking homes). Takes 1.5 hours, about. There are snacks to buy on board, or bring your own. Wave at the people along the river, ie fisherman, teenagers drinking, etc.

5 euros per person as guest of hotel Dorpat, that's a bargain!
The boat trip started front of hotel Dorpat. No previous booking was needed, but those who are early get the best seats where they want - in the sun, shade or deck below. There was a kiosk selling cheap beverages (beer 2,5e - wine 2,5e..etc). Enjoyed our 1,5 hours trip very much! Only negative thing was that there was no guide present.

I recommend this trip if you have a couple of hours to spare!

How can I describe a 65 minute boat trip up and down the river Emajõgi. Well let's put it this way, it certainly is a variety to walking in the old town, but please don't expect Monaco like views. There are none. One can see a tiny sand beach and a few nice houses, few very old boats, theater. All in all a nice relaxing 65 minutes on the river. Family ticket is 12€, adult pays 6€, kids are 4€. Staff is kind and helpful. According to the brochure the boat operates from June-August leaving Atlantis dockside on Tue-Thu at 1pm and 3pm, Sat-Sun at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.
