If you can’t make it to zoo...

Very interesting place. I would especially recommend a guided tour.
Stuffed animals may not be very lifelike, but many of these living beings would not otherwise be seen in their lifetime.
Luckily we met one of the employees and he also suggested looking in the drawers.
The voices of the birds were cool, maybe this system can be done for the animals too ...

This museum is just great to look at all the animals in glass cabinets, and other animals on blocks that are not enclosed in glass, there are other things to look at too,and it can take some time to look around this museum.

Very informative museum

This museum gives very much information on natural history. It suits well to both children and adults. Lots of information about birth of the world, different ages etc. Big collection of stuffed animals and birds and also separate display windows for nature around the world: rainforest, savannah, Northern Europe etc. They also have alive reptiles like iguana and turtles. The museum is walking distance from the center.

In this museum one can travel by biomes to see animals and plants there and learn to spot details. Some artefacts link us to the history of the museum.

Decent taxidermy
Feb 2018 • Solo
Good size museum on the upper floors of a university building, upon buying your ticket you'll receive instruction on how to get inside the museum. They have a good collection of stones, insects, and animals - both as skeletal remains and taxidermied. I found most of the taxidermy to be fairly well done, which is often a big problem, but naturally there are couple wonky creations as well. They also have some live fish and a lizard on display.

The museum itself is on two floors and while the elevator does take you between them, some areas might be a bit arrow for wheelchair users if the museum has many visitors at the same time. Overall a good visit and I'd reckon it's a good stop for families as well.

Birds, stones and bugs
Oct 2017 • Solo
Great museum of natural history. Museum is situated on the 3rd floor of an old building and is not so large but exhibition area is new and modern. There you could find alot of animal species that lives in Estonia and worldwide. Plant section is very limited but there is really interesting collection of stones, rocks and minerals. Section about insects and bugs are very collorfull with plenty of buterflies.

Splendid displays of Estonian fossils and geology
Aug 2017 • Business
The museum was recently renovated, it is very pleasant, airy with good lighting and well presented displays. While the majority of the displays are targeted for the general audinence, the palaeontological collection and display wil be of interest to specialists as well, it is the best assembled and presented collection of the palaeozoic fossils of Estonia on public display.

Old Natural History Museum was renewed. All exposition is now exhibit like in 21 century way. Lot of touch screens etc. The impressive first video that the Earth is still round! And of course my favorite butterfly collection from 1776!!!
