About
A grand and stylish pseudo-gothic brick church (architects Viktor Johann Gottlieb Schroter, Georg Hellat) greets you right next to the site of the first general song festival of Estonia. In the church, you can admire Johann Koler's altar painting 'Inviting Christ' (1897) and enjoy concerts in the hall that has room for up to 3000 people.Interesting facts:- WG Eisenschmidt, one of the first Estonian pastors, was the first pastor of the congregation and he served them for 53 years;- St Peter’s Church has a 19th century organ with 22 registers.

I stayed in an apartment directly opposite this beautiful building. When the light is right it is amazing. Located a 15min walk away from the town centre.

This church is surrounded by trees (conifers and leaved trees) on top of a small hill. It is luminous and it has beautiful carvings on the lofts (balconies).

This church is well worth visiting when you have leisure time in Tartu.

Go around Tartu and you'll find this beautiful building where we can witness the depurated style of an Evangelical Lutheran church. Notice the details on engraved stones

Imposing cathedral style church
Jul 2015 • Solo
Between 2013 and 2014, the copper sheaths of the spires was replaced (courtesy of a wealthy member of the congregation's legacy). For a brief few months until the copper tarnished, St Peter's roof blazed in the sunlight.
