We spent only one evening and night in Tartu, so we walked from our hotel to the old city along the river (canal?) to take a look at this old city. Worthwhile. Fine old buildings, some statues.

To explore Tartu's historical ground you need half a day tops. I would recommend parking by the botanical garden of the University - you just drive parallel to the river from the center, pass by the bridge and on the right-hand side of the garden...More

Tartu is a fascinating old town with many interesting buildings and attractive parks and gardens. The shops in the old town are very interesting too. It is a good place for a quiet stroll with many good places to eat and drink.
