Tartu University Botanical Garden is a masterpiece of gardens. I didn't even visit inside the buildings. The outside garden was so rich and well designed that that was an amazing experience in itself. I recommend this Garden to all Garden Lovers and Tartu Visitors with an eye on beauty and science. - I did travel in July 2018, but this review doesn't allow to choose me the right date, so let it be then July 2022.

There was some group of children at the same time as us. There is a pond with turtles (inside) and the guide took one of the turtles out of water and gave it to the children. They dropped the turtle (from like over 1m high) and even without that it must be very stressfull for turtles to be a playtoys for children.
I said to guide that that is not okay and all he did was laugh. Don’t go here and support animal abuse, please. It is not even that great anyway. Outside garden is okay but from the inside it is nothing special.

Ulkona (ilmaisessa) puutarhassa on ihan kiva kävellä.

Quiet relaxing garden perfect for a meditation retreat from the city and yet so close to it. It's especially beautiful in summer when the weather is sunny and the flowers are blooming.

Very beautiful botanical garden. A small area, but with a very large number of different flowers, many species of Christmas trees and a greenhouse. We were here from late February to mid-May. Since March, the botanic garden has always amazed with beautiful flowers. Starting from the beginning of spring the botanical garden is covered with bright crocuses, in May the dream-grass blooms.
In the greenhouse: in winter orchids bloom. Among them ordinary phalenopsis, dendrobium, Wanda, etc. In spring - hibiscus blooms. Additionally there are separate aquariums with predatory plants) The greenhouse has several rooms with different temperatures and humidity.

We found the Botanical Garden by accident and were not disappointed. Entrance to the gardens outside is free, so we enjoyed a walk around. There were plenty of signs in English, so we could brush up on our botanical knowledge. A nice, quiet spot in Tartu with lots of interesting plants and flowers on display - even in mid-September, there was plenty to see.

Half of the house was closed, which was disappointing, and since it was already the fall, most of the flowers had already withered.
We're definitely planning to visit this place in spring or summer. The plants in the house were very proud and big.
The child was also thrilled that the birds and turtles were there.

The park has all the issues you would associate with city living: Lots of not recently showered smelly people around. This place needs to kick out those shady people from this park.
