About
Come and visit one of the oldest Botanical Gardens in the world (founded in 1803). The Botanical Gardens were designed under the supervision of world-famous botanists, Prof Ledebour and Prof Bunge. The Botanical Gardens currently belong to the University of Tartu and they are used as a study base for students. The Botanical Gardens introduce new decorative plans and different methods of landscaping.Interesting facts:- there are 6500 species of plants from all climatic belts of the world in the Botanical Gardens, which makes it the most species-rich area in Estonia;- the palm house of the Botanical Gardens is the biggest in the Baltic States and also the richest in species.

So much greenery
Aug 2021
Half of the house was closed, which was disappointing, and since it was already the fall, most of the flowers had already withered.
We're definitely planning to visit this place in spring or summer. The plants in the house were very proud and big.
The child was also thrilled that the birds and turtles were there.

The park has all the issues you would associate with city living: Lots of not recently showered smelly people around. This place needs to kick out those shady people from this park.

Our favourite place to walk in Tartu. Very nice and large collection of various plants. We especially liked the medicinal plants and rose garden.

my favourite spot in the town

very peaceful and pleasant island of nature in the middle of Tartu city
great place to spend a short break or have a mindful walk
I enjoy the garden so much that it is one of the reasons i moved to Tartu
you can spend there just 15mins to reconnect with nature or 1+ hour diving into history and details of the plants and the garden itself

A secret treasure

Had lived in Tartu for almost a decade (right next to it for 2 years) and was totally oblivious.. Went there this summer for a walk and wished I'd known about it sooner - what a waste :) Pretty!

I had no idea it was here until I literally walked right into it by mistake. Great size, well maintained and very enjoyable.
