About
The Draakoni Gallery was founded in April 1983. In the first years, the gallery focused on exhibiting the works by members of the Graphic Artists Society. After the cessation of its exhibition activities, the gallery continued as a sales outlet for paintings, graphic art and applied art. As of 2003, the gallery has resumed the exhibition of works by Estonian and foreign artists, joined several art education programmes and dealt with the sale of artwork, focusing primarily on modern Estonian painting, graphic art and photography.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The most beautiful example of early 20th century architecture in Tallinn has an art gallery on the ground floor. They display a good overview of modern Estonian art and the front space hosts changing exhibitions.

Situated on one of the main streets in Old Town the gallery has taken its name of the marvellous Art Nouveau building with dragons carved on the walls and large hanging lamps. The current exhibition by Inga Heamägi is themed on the European immigration crisis and religion, it ends on April 6th. Works of several other local artists are permanently sold here too.

I stopped in for a few minutes. They had a large exhibit related to domestic violence but it was written in Estonian so it didn’t do much for me. Beyond that they have a lot of art for sale at a wide variety of prices. Some of the smaller, unframed pieces were very interesting and reasonably priced. The woman who worked there was friendly and helpful.

There was not much to see but as an artist myself, I still enjoyed it all the same. The work on display was interesting to view for maybe 10-15 mins.

The building built in the Art Nouveau style is absolutely beautiful, with dragons/serpents hugging the arch, the widow facade is lit in most creative way. Just the architecture alone would make this building an attraction for by itself.
However......
Modern art is not usually our thing, however. The current exhibit is very thought provoking (Paint it black 1). Its a bit like the matrix, "you cant describe it, you have to see it". Definitely worth a look
