Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

At the old city, a monument for those who lost their life fighting for the freedom and independence of all estonians. Lots of options for shopping and a bite to eat a short walk from here. Love and respect what the monument stands for, but am not impressed by the art and monument itself.

Memorial to those who fell in Estonia's struggle for independence. Located on Freedom Square it is lit at night and good to walk by going or coming from Old Town. If you want to know more about Estonia's push for freedom there is a small museum on the square where this is located call the Museum of the Popular Front (it's free) and has more info on the struggles that the cross commemorates.

This is in Old Town and our guide was very funny in pointing out how flawed it is. The glass panels started cracking after the first Estonian winter and many had to be replaced. There is some confusion about the "cross" on the top, as Estonia is probably the least religious country in the area.

Estonia fought for their independence 1918-20 and 4000 lost their lives. After the war they decided to build a memorial, but Soviet occupation stopped that process. After regaining their independence back, it was time to build memorial in 2009 after design competition. It is 23,5 meters tall with Cross of Liberty on the top. 143 pieces of glass made it to look like to me that it is under renovation.
Monument is located at Freedom Square opposite of the St. John's Church, which is on the eastern side of the square.
Summary: Worth visiting, to understand how much Estonians appreciate their independence after occupation.

Located in the square next to Old Town it is a nice monument. It does stand out in the square, from a tourist point of view nothing special but always worth a few moments of appreciation. It is near Old Town and easy to include in a walking tour.
