About
The beautiful Classicist building was designed by St. Petersburg architect Luigi Rusca and was constructed in 1820–1827. The church has valuable iconostas, which can compete with the famous Zarudnoi iconostas in the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord. The church is administered by an orthodox congregation that belongs to the Moscow Patriarchate. Services are held on Fridays at 5:30 pm, on Saturdays at 9:30 am and 6 pm, and on Sundays at 10 am.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a tiny underwhelming church we found by chance as we walked past it.
We peeked inside and were not very impressed.

This is a nice old church. It appears to be built right unit the old city walls which is cool. I like old churches and it’s worth looking at.

Located near the Tourist Information Office, I stopped and visited here on May 18, 2025 when entrance fee was waived for the day.

At the Ground Floors are exhibits of an artist depicting religious icons, paintings, etc. There is an elevator that one can take to 4 floors of exhibits. At the 4th floor there are big, wide windows to see different areas of Tallinn. Took several pictures here.

I tried pressing keys for the other lower floors, but the elevators would not stop on the 2nd and 3rd floors where I briefly saw several huge bells.

Great place to visit. The building itself was beautiful. It was free to visit (donations asked for). The tower wasn’t free but I had a my Tallinn Card pre purchased meaning I didn’t have to pay to go up. The stairs were steep and difficult to climb so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. The view from the top of the tower was stunning. Well worth the 200+ steps!

Definitely a practicing church so be respectful. Lots of gold work inside, no charge for this one just a donation if you choose. Fairly small inside

Really beautiful and peaceful Church but no-one really welcomed us in. But no charge for visiting- request for donations- which I prefer.

Church architecture may not be as impressive, as some Russian Orthdox icons is has inside. It is a working church, so no picturea are allowed (though some people still take them), but you still can enjoy the icons. Worth visiting.

a must when visiting the Old Town of Tallinn, interesting architecture and very valuable icons. Unfortunately they do not allow you to take photos.

This church is not listed on the typical tourist itinerary, however, we were in the area, and stepped inside. One thing that struck me while traveling around the Baltics, is that they do not allow photographs of the interior of orthodox churches. It's a pity, because without such photos, I can't visualize it now, but my travel notes say "gorgeous old icons". Worth a stop and a pray.

One of the highlights of the upper town, this church has the flavor of Russian Orthodox, but one of the docents in the church told me that it was a local scect - Tallin Orthodox, very small.
