Lovely church with painted gallery!
Sep 2019
Wonderful church with a painted gallery that tell so many of the Bible stories! It was the end of the season so they were out of English language literature, but the painted gallery was amazing! Very nice alter piece too and the well worth a very nominal entrance fee.

Interesting Church from the 1300s!
Aug 2019
It is worth the small 1.50 Euro entry fee to see the inside of this church from the early 1300s! There is interesting art from many hundreds of years ago, plus the fee helps the maintenance. I was in Tallinn on a 9-hour stopover on a Norwegian Getaway 9-day Baltic Cruise in August 2019. Rick Steves "Scandinavian & Northern European Cruise Ports" Guidebook was a great help and this church was part of the self-guided "Tallinn Walk" in the book.

Delightful quiet and historic Church near the centre of Tallinn
Mar 2020
There is a lovely atmosphere in this Church, which is steeped in history.

One evening I went there for a wonderful Bach concert, with Kristiina Hoidre on the organ and Kirill Lissijenko on the piano. There are regular free concerts, which are well worth attending.

I returned to the Church a couple of days later to look at it more closely.

Wonderful Church
Feb 2020
It is amazing to think that not too many years ago all of these churches were property of the Soviet Union and there were no services being held here. We went in the middle of an organ practice and it was wonderful. I am so happy for the freedom of religion.

Christmas feeling
Dec 2019 • Family
A very tasteful mainly carved wooden Lutheran church built in the 14th century. Came here for an organ concert, turned out the organist was away so were treated to the choir and piano instead. This really got us into the Christmas spirit, singing popular Christmas songs and traditional Estonian pieces. The overall atmosphere was great, just for €1.50 entry. Also the church was heated.

Interesting clock
Nov 2019
The tall tower dominates this Lutheran Church which dates back to the 14th century and is only a stones throw from the old town square in Tallinn. There is an interesting old clock on the outer wall and some good stained glass windows.

Very good

This is easily the best church in Tallinn - if you only visit one then make it this one. Make sure to go up the stairs to the next level.

Fascinating church with an unusual plan
Sep 2019 • Couples
The 14th century church has a tall tower and historic clock on the ourside; otherwise a relatively plain exterior that gives little hint of what is inside.

The strange plan with the nave split in two and the chancel to one side reflects different stages of the church's development. The galleries with their painted panels are particularly fascinating, as is the elaborate carved pulpit and altarpiece.

There is a British white ensign flag at the chancel which commemmorates British sailors who died in battles in the Baltic in 1918-19 which were key to establishing the independence of Estonia and Latvia.
