Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice museum and interesting exhibition. It's a very small museum and even when having a bigger interest in the art of photography it's a max 20 minutes look around. So you can consider it as a pro or con.

This is quite a small museum, with some steep steps.
The lady behind the desk did not speak English so couldn't answer our questions. Some interesting exhibits - photographs and photography equipment.

As an amateur photographer I was keen to explore this hidden gem just behind town hall. Located in former town gaol, this 14th century building houses a permanent exhibition of rare photographs, old cameras, other related equipment reflecting rich legacy of Estonian photography from 1840s to 1940s. Also there is moving night views of Tallinn. There is admission ticket and free from crowds. Any photographic enthusiast young or old, should not miss this unique exhibition.

Situated in a little side street, in what was once the Old Town Prison, this is a must see for anyone who is even remotely interested in photography. They have an amazing view of old cameras for you to peruse - probably the best I have seen anywhere - thankfully they are a lot smaller and lighter today, with heaps of technical information for those who are interested enough to read it and understand. It is included in the Tallinn card as well which certainly helps.

Quite interesting museum in the old town centre. The museum is set in the old town council prisons. We had the Talljn card so the entrance was free but it's a cheap place to visit, quite interesting especially for passionate or curious, photographers, or anyone. It takes not too long, not too much to explain. Cool

This photography museum is centrally located in the old city. If you are a fan of old cameras this is a must visit, they have a lovely collection. There are also old photographs of Tallinn. There are more modern photographs in the museum as well. There are a lot of steps and the stairways are narrow and the steps are uneven. If mobility concerns are an issue, this museum is not a good choice. Otherwise, very interesting little museum.

This was an interesting little museum - both the normal exhibition and the house itself and its history.

This was a fun stop. We enjoy photography and this museum had both cameras and old photos in an old building. We thought it was worth the stop.

We visited because it was part of the Tallinn card. It’s an interesting little museum housed in the old jail—which is a great old building. Exhibits include cameras throughout the years, photographs and a contemporary photo exhibit. Well worth visiting.

Great Collection of cameras from all ages and a wonderful exhibition of how photography developed in Tallinn. The building itself is fascinating, with steep medieval staircases and lots of small cosy rooms - previously the town prison. A fun visit.
