OK for a short visit
Sep 2019
The Tallinn old city hall has some nice works of art inside, information about the city and building history. Most of the spaces in the building are empty, and there isn't so much to read about - after taking pictures you'll finish the tour in less than an hour.

Lovely afternoon drink in the sunshine
Aug 2020
Avoid the overpriced and mediocre food but this is a good place for a drink in the sun watching the World go by.

Jun 2019
Tallinn City Hall, one of the oldest in Northern Europe (c. 1370s), is part of the Town Hall histyorical complex. It has weather vane Old Thomas (Vana Toomas), Tallinn's symbol, on the top of the City Hall tower.

Well Done Displays of History
Aug 2019
They have done a great job at renovating and preserving this Town Hall from 1404, the only surviving Gothic Town Hall in Northern Europe! There is a lot of medieval art, furniture, items in use in those days, and recreations of the various rooms used here hundreds of years ago. I went up to the attic too, where there were display boards and a few items on display. Apparently there is a good view from the roof as per guidebook reports, but maybe it was closed when I visited as I did not see any way up there. I had a 24-hour Tallinn Card which covered most sights. I was in Tallinn on a 9-hour stopover on a Norwegian Getaway 9-day Baltic Cruise during mid-August 2019. Rick Steves "Scandinavian & Northern European Cruise Ports" Guidebook was a great help and this sight was part of the self-guided "Tallinn Walk" in the book.

Imposing with a hidden gem beneath
Feb 2020 • Friends
Gorgeous and imposing building, the square outside is also huge and provides a break from the tiny streets across old town.

The hidden gem here is the taverna underneath!

Nice building that provides an excellent back drop to the medieval square that holds the Christmas market.

A unique building that can be seen towering above the roof tops of the old town. Well worth a visit.

A truly impressive Town Hall!
Jun 2019
Whilst our cruise ship was docked in the port of Tallinn for the day, we spent most of our time exploring Tallinn Old Town.
By mid-morning, we had found our way to the main town square Tallinna Raekoja Plats where the Tallinn Town Hall is situated. It was a Sunday and there was a local festival underway in the Old Town. With many tourists visiting Tallinn and many locals attending the festival in the Old Town, this town square was particularly busy.
Despite the crowds, we were still able to admire the fine old buildings located around the town square. It was the truly amazing town hall that immediately caught our gaze. At first glance, we actually thought that this building was a church. However, on closer inspection, we were actually able to determine that it was a significant civic building. Because it was a Sunday and the local festival was underway, the town hall was not open to visitors. Therefore, we had to make do with admiring this fine public building from the town square. It was its very tall steeple
and the cloister-like arches at ground level which gave this very old building its unique architectural appeal.
A “must-see” building for any tourist spending time in Tallinn Old Town.
