It is nice to visit to get an idea where music was such a powerful cultural influence. There are programs and scheduled events. We went during the day when the place was empty. The parking is easy and the grounds are huge. it is a place of remembrance and national pride so take a peek for 15 minutes.

We went and we saw and we left. Nothing to really see but the dome and statue. 15 minutes is the most you will spend there unless you take a picnic. It was an awfully long drive to it and I wasn't impressed. Would spend more time in Old Town if I had know.

The grounds of the Tallinn Song Festival are beautiful and spacious. I would love to watch an outdoor concert here. Anyway, if you want to see something off the beaten path, this is a must do.

The festival grounds play a big part in the history of Estonia and they are well worth a visit. Many big artists have performed here over the years.

This a huge open air amphitheatre which holds great magnificence in the recent history of Estonia.
I was moved to visit this place because it means so much to the Estonians and their fight for freedom from domination by the then USSR.
The venue is used for a Song Festival as well as being the venue for concerts by world renown stars like Rod Stewart and Madonna.

Every town and village has active choral groups and competitions, many of whom come annually to participate in All Estonian Song Festivals throughout the year. In mid-August, it was quiet.

Laulupidu, the Estonian Song Festival, is held every five years since 1869. Choral groups from every county in Estonia as well as Estonian groups from the USA, Canada, Australia and other countries comprise the 30,000 plus group that occupies the stage and sings under one conductor. Laulupidu brings the old, the young and everyone together to embrace Estonia’s culture, history and nation. Laulupidu is an emotional and moving event that one must experience to fully appreciate. Each chorus marches from Tallinn to the festival grounds dressed in native clothing and is recognized as they form the chorus. There are over hundred booths with arts and crafts at the event. One usually also attends the Estonian Folk dances in addition to the song festival.

Lots of history associated with the festival site - but except for a few posters at the entrance and the statue of the festival founder, there's not much to do w/o the music.

The Tallinn Song Festival is a special time in Tallinn. Outside of festival times, it is nearly impossible to get a view of the amphitheater let alone go inside. I'd skip this attraction unless you are actually going to the festival.

The grounds were lovely but there isn't much to see except for a statue at the top of the hill. It's still a special place for Estonians and has significant historical value. It must be extremely special if you attend with a choir to join a singing festival.
