Winter activities on the slope

Song Festival Ground turns into winter wonderland while no one performing. Children with sledges sliding down. Lots of fun. We explore acoustics - excellent!

This outdoor amphitheater, now undergoing some repairs, was the birthplace of the so called "Singing Revolution" and a symbol of the courage of the Estonians. Freedom was greatly restricted by the Soviets but the Estonians were unique in that they had a window on the west and could see what was going on in the rest of the world, especially... More

Amazing location with view towards to Baltic Sea this area shows the Estonian love of being outside and their joy of music. A very important site for the Estonian fight for independence in the late 1980's The Singing Revolution could not have a better 'battleground' . I havisited in the winter, when the snow makes the sloped arena the best... More

You can't fully understand Estonia until you understand how important singing and music is. These Song Festival grounds explode with national pride and very serious competitions. It's a nice place to visit - especially if you are on a tour of Tallinn (it will be included - as will be essential TV Tower!).

We came here as part of an organised tour. I liked the history and the stories. The grounds themselves are nothing special. Worth a visit but only if with a guide who can tell you the history and stories.

Went to Electronic Family Festival here this summer. Great outdoor venue right on the water with a ton of history. Definitely don't stop in Tallinn without reading about this place and making a visit on a nice day.

As a park and a stage and band shell this is an average attraction. With a good guide this is an incredible stop. Estonia was free from 1920 to 1939. Then with no weapons or defences was subject to occupation and subjugation by first the Nazi's and then the Soviets for 50 years. What could a tiny nation of a... More

Great site but not relaxing on a Saturday when at least three local teams were throwing discs in three different directions. Areas were roped off and the ispiration of the site was lost on me.It is meant to symbolise the unity of the Estonian people through the Song Festival and his statue muses if the need will continue after his... Grounds are nice, good views, get the story from a guide or red up, big crowds when festival going on, smaller crowd any sunny day.

If you are interested in the history of the Soviet oppression and the bloodless way in which the Estonians expelled the Russians, just standing there is worth while. I could just imagine 300,000 people singing there.
