Impressive Structure
Jul 2019
We couldn't gain access as it is necessary to book in advance. Nevertheless we had a nice walk around the outside. It is a strange mix of styles as a result of it being built over a number of centuries. If you wander below you can clearly see it as a castle fortress. However if you just look at it from the front entrance it has the appearance of a Baroque style building. This is home to the Estonian Parliament.

Toompea Castle is a very old castle, that has changed very often in the 10 centuries since it was build and had many owners (Danish, Swedish, German, Russian). It's on top of an hill, very near to the centre of Talinn. Yoy can see
its high tower, called Long Herman, from far away. On the platform you have a magnificent view.

A nice shade of pink!
Jun 2019
We spent most of our day exploring Tallinn Old Town while our cruise ship was berthed in the port of Tallinn for the day.
Towards the end of the day, we had found our way Toompea Castle, Estonia’s parliament house. We had no prior knowledge of this impressive building and consequently we were somewhat surprised by its pink and white colour scheme.
It was a Sunday and consequently the building was not open to visitors. Therefore we had to make do with viewing this impressive building from across the courtyard in front of it and also from the extensive gardens situated to one-side of the castle.
The castle characteristics of this building are not obvious when viewed from the front. It is only when you view from the gardens that you can see some of the building characteristics associated with a castle. These include the rear stone walls and the tall turreted tower in the back corner of the castle walls.
The castle’s colour scheme make it a difficult building to miss and it should certainly be on the “must-see” list of any tourist visiting Tallinn.

Welcome to Parliament!
Jun 2019
One of the first attractions you'll come across when visiting Toompea Hill; its located to the left of St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It appears the castle now focuses on the work of the Riigikogu and Toompea Castle; with the English language tour starting every Wednesday and Friday at 12, with the tour lasting 45 minutes. Though I missed the tour, it was still worth walking the grounds, reading the placards, and simply educating myself on the importance of this building.

Impressive
Jul 2019 • Friends
Not what you would normally call a castle, but a very impressive and photogenic building now housing the Estonian Parliament. Pale pink with terracotta roof tiles it looks lovely in the sunlight. The blue, black and white Estonian flag flies above the city's crest. When the dreaded cruise boats are in, there is always a huge crowd; early morning and from late afternoon onwards is a much better time to visit.

Home to the Estonian Parliament
Jul 2018 • Solo
This isn't actually a Castle at all, but rather an imposong and very attractive looking pink building which is now home to the Estonian Parliament. As such, as far as I know it is not open to the public, but is nevertheless worth a photo, particularly in the evening light, with plenty of other things to see in the vcinity.

The castle is now the parliament
May 2019 • Solo
Toompea Castle stands on top of Toompea Hill and is where the present day parliament is situated.. One tower still remains today but the parliament building took 2 years to complete and was opened in 1922. Today many crowds hang around the entrance to the parliament hoping to see political figures enter. The Estonian flag flies proudly over the entrance with the city's coat of arms below.
