Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A really moving museum - take time to read individual stories and also watch some of the videos as they are shocking as to what people went through, in a relatively recent portion of history.

Absolutely fantastic place really enjoyed it and the history behind it. Incredible the levels of paranoia on display by superpowers

this very sad place. I will never forget that 2% of the people got out only who got there for interrogation.

This is a great way to spend 30 minutes. I went in when it was very hot as I had a Tallinn card which meant I got free entry. I’m glad I did! I hadn’t planned to visit this and found it very interesting and informative

This is a really small but informative museum on the site of the old KGB prison cells in Tallinn Old Town. A good way to spend 30 mins or so. When we visited, there was another patron, a young guy, who was pacing up and down the corridor yelling into his mobile phone. It was extremely distracting and not at all respectful to the fact that this was a place where hundreds of prisoners were murdered. I feel that staff should have intervened and told him to shut up but they didn't.

The former KGB headquarters in Tallinn lies in the Old Town in a building built in 1912. The prison cells in the basement have remained a symbol of the former Soviet oppression in Estonia.
Suspected enemies of the state were imprisoned and interrogated before they were either shot or sent to labor camps in Siberia. The cells were used until 1950.
There is not so much to see for the entrance fee of 5 euros. The basement has two corridors, six prison cells, and a punishment cell.

The title sums it up. A small museum but if you are interested in modern history then well recommended. Sadly we’ve already visited Auschwitz and after attempting to try to take in the sheer scale of total inhumanity there this museum appears to be very small by comparison BUT it does not dilute the level of cruelty and terror inflicted on the poor souls incarcerated in these underground cells.

The museum, although small, was very informative. The size was reflected in the price which was very reasonable. Lots of different ways of displaying information and hearing stories of those who had stayed in the cells. Good for a quick 30 minute visit.

A small museum with just enough to make it worth the entry fee. Just to see the cells and small solitary cells and hear the stories of those who endured the wrath of the KGB was enough. Plenty of things to read. Quite a scary toilet that is in an old cell with a big cell door
