Deluxe picnic cruise to Tallinn
Oct 2021
The price was quite affordable 128 euros including two cruise tickets, buffet lunches including drinks, and a deluxe cabin including the cabin minibar.

It was nice to have a spacious cabin because the ship was quite full and the public spaces were crowded. After the buffet and tax-free shop, we spent the rest of our time in the cabin.

It was nice to watch the arrival in Tallinn from the bow-facing cabin windows. The weather was not suitable for spending time on the sun deck.

Comfort boarding cruise to Tallinn
Jul 2021
Viking Line is offering a new concept for the picnic cruise to Tallinn. For 22 euros per person, you can book 'comfort boarding'. This price includes a buffet lunch.

As we had a tax-free coupon for a 5-euro cruise, we decided to escape the heatwave in Helsinki to the sea where the temperature was so much pleasurable.

The Viking XPRS departs at 13:30 but booking the comfort boarding you can board already at 12:00 and go directly to the buffet restaurant and stay there until 13:30.

The buffet lunch was very enjoyable. The food selection is not the widest as in times before COVID but very enough for us. Everything was tasty. The service was very friendly.

At 13:30, it was nice to go to the sundeck with your stomach full for watching the departure from Helsinki.

This cruise would have been five stars if the arrival in Helsinki would have been handled better. It is unbelievable that this cannot be fixed. Why they don't make a study trip to Turku where everything is handled so well, already in the last summer.

In Turku and in Helsinki are two exits from the ship. Why is it so hard to make the separation between cruise and other passengers already when coming out of the ship?

Now all passengers stand in a crowded queue in an unventilated tube for a very long period. There is plenty of time to catch the virus. These health measures make travel riskier than safer for your health.

Pleasant picnic cruise to Tallinn
Mar 2021
On Fridays, Viking XPRS has convenient timetables for a quick Tallinn cruise without disembarkation to Tallinn. XPRS departs at 14:15 and is back in Helsinki at 20:00.

With a tax-free coupon, the price was just 3 euros per person. We booked a deluxe cabin for 60 euros extra. Because of the coronavirus situation in Estonia, we didn't want to spend time in public spaces.

We pre-booked hamburger meals from Blue Deli self-service restaurant. Probably we were the first ones who made that booking because nobody knew anything from our order. They just started to make them at 14:45 that was the original pick-up time. We had to wait 15 minutes. Luckily there were not many people around. The hamburgers were not special and I don't recommend this service.

The weather was sunny and it was nice to make a short visit to the sundeck in Tallinn. The stop was just 45 minutes and the ship's bow was already towards Helsinki.

In Helsinki, they first started the disembarkation from the cabin deck. We were quickly in the health inspection hall and after that in the border control. Just 10 minutes and we were out of the terminal.

Always super nice staff where ever you go bar, shop or restaurant or ask for advice. The new Eat&Seat concept was a nice and tasty surprise and also the steak bar serving pepper steaks was so tasty and the meat quality great.

Pleasant XPRS trips to Tallinn and back
Aug 2020
We have been many times onboard Viking XPRS but there has never been so quiet. It was easy to keep the distances during boarding, voyage, and disembarkation.

We had buffet meals in both ways. At the brunch buffet, there were probably 20 passengers in the big restaurant. On our way back, there were double that but the restaurant was still quite empty.

The buffet was handled very well. Everyone had a clean food grip for the cold food or the food was pre-dosed in small bowls. The chef behind the counter gave warm food as one desired. The food was very tasty. The waiters were very polite.

Pleasant Rosella day cruise
Jan 2020
Rosella was replacing Viking XPRS from Helsinki to Tallinn for two weeks when XPRS was in dock for maintenance.

Rosella is a relatively old ship, completed in 1980 for Turku-Stockholm traffic. Since 2011, it has been operating from Mariehamn to Kapellskär.

We were positively surprised. The interior was quite modern. There was even a two-story nightclub at the stern of the ship. Also, the tax-free shop was big at the bow of deck 5.

All cabins are located on deck 4. They were also modern and comfortable.

On the way back, we had dinner at La Rose a la carte restaurant. That was quite an average experience. The restaurant was noisy. There was a children's playroom opposite. The food was just okay. The service was friendly.

From Tallinn to Helsinki in no time
Jul 2019
A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor, they say, and I am perfectly fine with that. This was a super smooth sailing, from the beginning to the end. No waves, no thunderstorms.

When you are tired of planes, try a ferry. I was very happy to discover it was possible to go across the Gulf of Finland on a ferry. Online booking is very simple, just don't forget to pick up your boarding pass in the office.

Embarkation went well, once you are on board you can find yourself a place to sit or lie down or have a snack in the shop. If you have nice weather, you can spend the whole time outside, watching other ferries or Finland getting close.

Entering the port of Helsinki was the most enjoyable part of the trip, especially when you are passing by the Suomenlinna fortress and watching buildings, people and ships around.

Then it`s just landing and welcome to Finland. A short trip but a very enjoyable one.

Helsinki to Estonia made easy!
Mar 2019 • Friends
In just a couple hours, Viking takes you in comfort to Tallinn, Estonia for a great visit. Tallinn has a really well preserved medieval walled town that makes you feel like you have been transported back in time.. and there’s some shopping for those that like ! Plenty of fun choices for food too - take your pick.. don’t miss the chance to see Estonia if you’re in Finland - otherwise it’s rather more tricky..

2 Countries in 1 day.
Aug 2019
I had checked Tallinn/Helsinki ferry prices online before travelling to Estonia and the cheapest came in at 54 Euros return total for my wife and I. Once in Tallinn i checked with the office of Tallink and was quoted 84Euros. I then went to the Viking Line office and we booked with them as the fare was only 18 Euros each return. A fantastic ship with plenty on board to keep you occupied. A good service at a bargain price and Helsinki was a nice city to visit. I could also tick off Finland as country number 32 visited around the world.

Really enjoyed this trip!
Aug 2019 • Family
After reading a lot of negative reviews about the Mariella ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki/Tallinn, we had very low expectations, but had a great trip! The beds in the cabin were very comfortable, and the aircon worked really well. We thought the prices on board were very reasonable, and the buffet breakfast in particular was excellent value for money- there was a huge selection! (But when they say 7-9.15, they really mean it: you really can’t show up at 9.10, because they are already starting to clear up and set the tables for the next set of passengers). Our party of 4 includes a gluten free diet and a vegan, both of which were well catered for in the cafe on board (vegan chocolate cake was a welcome surprise !). All in all, much more sophisticated than we were expecting: would definitely do again.
