Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tavras sculpture is one of the main attractions in Rakvere, a real symbol of the town. It is relatively young, was installed less than 20 years ago, but looks like everybody knows about this sculpture! You can see it from afar, but near it looks even more impressive.

The huge bull located next to Rakvere Castle. We visited on our trip to the Castle. There is a little walk to get to it. But we enjoyed our time.

Very big statue beside the Rakvere castle. Nothing special but if you are visiting the castle, then take a look at this also.

I love this sculpture and the little story behind it. This dominates the area prior to the fantastic castle and is so fitting for the area. Fabulous photo opportunity! Congratulations to the incredible sculptor.

An impressive and life-like statue of an aurochs (ancient bull). Sculptor Tauno Kangro. It was erected to celebrate the 700th anniversary of the Lübeck Law's city rights of Rakvere

There is enough information on the internet about this sculpture but many do not mention the sculptor. This was sculpted by the Estonian sculptor Tauno Kangro. It is thought to be the largest animal statue in the Baltic countries.

Tauno is a very talented and very prolific sculptor. Some of his other works are: 37 monumental sculptures found in Estonia, Germany, Finland and Denmark. The most well known are Lucky Chimney Sweep, The Aurochs (Rakvere Bull) and Suur Tõll and Piret Got a Good Fish Harvest.

You might also notice his other bulls in front of Goodwin Steakhouses, like the one in Olde Towne just past the McDonald's! He also does granite (like the man coming out of the ground in the moat area north of Toompea)

I thought the statue was quite imposing. It is lifelike, aside from the size. It towers over the corner of the street that it is on. If you are in the area, definitely check it out.
