About
A museum in the medieval tower in the old city centre. The Red Tower is Pärnu’s oldest surviving structure. Built in the early 15th century, the corner tower of the city wall was both a fortification and a prison. Since November 2020, the tower houses a museum. In this fascinating building you can now get acquainted with the architecture of this ancient tower and the medieval town of New-Pärnu. In the Red Tower’s panorama cinema you can watch the exciting animated movie which introduces Pärnu’s history. The museum ticket includes a panoramic cinema session and, if desired, a short introduction to the Red Tower by a museum employee.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had time for lunch and seeing one thing. I selected this and I'm glad that I did. A docent did an introduction of the building's significance and use over time and then sent us up to the top for the video projection and exhibits. I thought it was decent and would recommend it.

The tower is a part of the town wall. And the only survived part. They show a video about a history of Pärnu and there is a model of the ancient city. Interesting place, a little bit overpriced.

Little tower with great history. You can visit the tower and at the top there is good 360° movie about the history of the tower.

The tower is the oldest surviving structure of the ancient walls of Pärnu. There's a game you can play outside, a maquette of the city on the 2nd floor, and some facts about it's medieval life. The 360° cinema on the top floor shows the history of Pärnu. Very interesting learning experience

This medieval structure is easy to pass by without beeing discovered, since it is well hidden by other houses in the old town. However if you are lucky enough to notice it, this small charming tower will strike you with its authentic dignity of centuries survived, to the extent that you will immediately take out your phone to make a selfie.

This is a small museum with beautiful exhibition of historical arms and armor, the entrance is difficult to find!

We had visited the charming Red Tower every time we visited Parnu, but this July, at least on the Wednesday we tried, the Tower was closed. The sign on the door said it was only closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (which is strange enough considering that July is the only peak tourism month for Parnu). We are disappointed that more accurate information was not available on the closed door.

The museum is interesting, but very small. In fact, there is one floor with a panoramic cinema, the second with an exhibition. Interesting, exciting. But 7 euros for this seems an unjustified price.
On the other hand, if you have a museum card, then why not.
