About
The splendour of Haapsalu, the famous Czarist era resort, is recalled by the seafront Promenade and its jewel -- the Assembly Hall with its wooden “gingerbread”. Walk on the sloping promenade and glance dreamily at the sea; check the time at the sundial and have a rest on the bench named for the world-famous composer Tchaikovsky. Interesting facts: The Promenade starts at the exotically named Africa Beach, and ends at the Chocolate Promenade, which is named after a former café. There is a children’s playground on the Promenade and the town’s only observation tower. There is also a monument to Carl Hunnius, the discoverer of Haapsalu’s therapeutic mud behind the band shell.

We enjoyed walking almost the entire promenade, very nice as it goes all the way at the sea and around the Haapsalu old town. It has parks, restaurants, the Africa beach and cafe´s. The Africa beach itself seems to be very suitable to visit even with smaller children and they have a playground just close to the beach. We enjoyed visiting Haapsalu as there are many restaurants and nice apartments to choose from. Our apartment even had sauna and a jacuzzi and no need to visit any of the SPA hotels.

I really enjoyed my walk along the promenade, starting at the Birdwatching Tower and ending up by Tcheikovsky's Bench. From the Birdwatching tower i reached a children's playground and a nearby park where there is a beautiful church. I soon passed a small pavilion before reaching the grand old wooden building which used to be a resort over 100 years ago. Nearby is a statue of a polar bear at sea, a ship's anchor and a small walkway where you could anchor your boats. There are also many birds and some of them were nesting. This was one of the highlights of Haapsalu, especially on a beautiful day

Walk along and pretend you're in the 19 century. The scenery is gorgeous- lots of aquatic birds to watch and a cool breeze to enjoy. I never made it to the beach

This park has a lot of old buildings and many benches so after a long walk this is the best place to rest and admire the landscape. When we've visited it wasn't that crowded and there were a lot of swans, offering us an amazing view.
