About
The railway terminus with its intriguingly grand station building, constructed in the early 20th century to service the bustling resort town of Haapsalu, invites you to take a virtual journey back in time, accompanied by steam engine noises, to learn about the evolution of railways in Estonia spanning almost a century and a half. Here you can also see different methods of communicating information, from early telegraph and telephone devices to the wireless communications and television. Old locomotives and carriages made their final stop here and you can also come across a polite stationmaster and a skeleton telephone, or visit the old post office. This is all the Station, a place of arrivals and departures through the prism of the past.

Historic train station, where you can't drive anywhere

Great attraction with a long history. We liked it. One can only imagine how nice it was here during the tsar's time.

The best part to start your trip in Haapsalu

Wow. We were amazed about this special little place stuck in time. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and even though it is out of service conserves all its charm. We did not expected such a beauty hidden by the sea.

A grand train station
Jun 2019 • Solo
It is a very grand train station, built in 1904 and it has been beautifully restored.
Entrance to the station is free. You can see the waiting rooms, the 216m long covered platform and some old steam engines on the tracks behind the station.
There is also a museum, entrance is 4 €. The museum is divided in 2 parts. On the left is about telecommunications and on the right about the history of the railways in Estonia. This part I found the most interesting, especially all the stuff from the belle epoque era.
But what a pity you can't take here a train anymore.

Probably your first stop
May 2019 • Solo
The bus stopped right next to the train station which is now a museum and a good place to start exploring Haapsalu. The building itself is rather grand and the platform is 216 m long. The Russian Czars used to come here as it was a summer resort town. Part of the station building has an imperial pavilion. The station was used from 1904 to 1995 and is now a museum. Some old railway stock can be seen on the tracks and there is a small entrance fee but i was never charged.

A special little place.

If you happen to be in Haapsalu, a quick visit brings you back to the very early 1900s and a magnificent building in a most unexpected location.

Interesting Engine on Display.

What you want to see are the engines and they are accessible without a ticket. The bus from Tallinn let me off right at the station

Historical monument - worth to see

A very oldschool, beautiful not-anymore operating train station. However, it is in a good condition. Looks very sweet - if around, definitely worth a visit.

Just splendid old railway station in Haapsalu !
Aug 2017 • Couples
Here we were when first arrived in Haapsalu, in Haapsalu Bussijaam, i.e. the Bus Station. This Bus Station is settled now, in what was in the past the Railway Station. And after our first stop in this place, we several times passed by that charming wooden railway station building, on our way to Paralepa beach. There is one long roofed platform and a royal pavilion and of course we saw a couple of old locomotives, standing still on, already long time, unused rails.
And inside the building of a railway station, there is a whole fascinating world of telecommunication with all this range of devices, starting from telegraphy and crank telephone and ending with mobile phones and computers.
One day we chanced to see here, in the front of the building of a Station, a real contest of bikers with their amazing motorcycles.
Not to miss this spot, definitely !
