Just got back from a wonderfully relaxing trip to the from Fra Mare spa, I stayed in the old town and walked over there, a 25 minute beautiful walk along the seashore. The spa is not too big, not too small, with six different saunas, one indoor and one outdoor pool and one large Jacuzzi, as well as heated chairs. The price, 10.50 during the week and 15 during weekends, is incredibly cheap compared to most other places. With its view onto the seashore, and the soft Enya music, you hardly notice the kids screaming ;)

Visited the spa for the day and loved every minute. It was impeccably clean, quiet and had a wide range of saunas, treatments, pools and steam rooms. Cost about €10 for a day ticket; comparatively, this experience would cost between £40-60 in the UK. Plenty of showers, lots of lockers, lovely location looking out onto the sea and the marshes. Can't fault it!

Location: The hotel is about 1.5 km from the old town. The walking distance is a bit too long for most people. The car is useful both to go to the hotel and from the hotel to see something around.

The hotel and public areas: The hotel is a bit worn out. Only small part of the rooms are with sea view while most of the rooms are practically without any view. The best rooms are as expensive - as expensive as in many better hotels with similar view. The lobby is small and crowded. The restaurants are quite basic, but with reasonably good view. The corridors are narrow and full of unpleasant doors.

The rooms: We had a room with sea view. The room started to be quite worn. Furniture was cheap and unpractical. E g. the only table was extremely small and was swinging so much that you could not put glass on it. The bathroom was quite primitive, too. Cleaning was acceptable and took place quite early. There is no air condition in the room making the room sauna in hot summer days. Even now in cold weather the room was too hot. With the price of the room one could assume to get something better.

SPA: The SPA is quite average. There are four types of saunas, one jacuzzi and one swimming pool. The SPA is open also in the mornings, but only one Finnish sauna is then in use. It was surprising that the parents brought less than one year old children to jacuzzi.

Restaurant: The breakfast was quite basic and no culinary delight. You can get only your stomach full . We tried also one dinner in the a la carte restaurant. The dinner was excellent, but the service terribly slow although there were only four other persons having dinner.

Service: In this hotel you still feel Soviet spirit. The front desk of the hotel and SPA is not polite and helpful. The restaurant service is slow and does only necessary. The only acceptable service is the one of the SPA treatments.

The spa part is a bit too small, only too pools and small saunas, but over all a very nice and not too expensive spa.

First they refused to pull together and fix two small separate beds for me and my wife. Secondly, the eating house was full of elderly people who were not able to eat very well due to health problems. It was not a pleasant situation if people around you drop food from mouth. Third, I asked to use 2 glasses in the room and they asked a rent for that. Fourth, I ordered a beer in the SPA area and they charge extra service fee EUR 7 for that. The only good thing was SPA with several saunas and pool area.

We stayed in a older part of this hotel so our room was little old-fashioned but really spacious. Water pressure in shower was poor but there was heating pipe in bathroom where towels can be dried.
Spa dressing room was quite small and spa and saunas were little crowded at some time. Pool was quite average (there isn't much underwater massage tubes).
We had buffet breakfast and buffet dinner in a price and for that price food was very good.
Overall we were quite satisfied.

We stayed in Fra Mare for two nights. I read the reviews here before going and booked a deluxe room, which was great. The room had two areas: one with two big beds which we pushed together and a higher sitting area with two sofas that could also be made into beds. I wear earplugs every night anyway, so it wasn't a problem for me, but my partner was a bit annoyed by the noise outside our room, because there was a pool table there and you could hear everything to the room. The bathroom was very big and it had a jaccuzy for one, which i sadly didn't have time to try. The 2-night hotel package had a 25min back massage in it, which was nice. The pool area was also nice. We had a buffey breakfast and dinner in our package, which were both very good, only the breakfast was missing a salad and dessert could have been better. Over all we were very happy with our minivacation.

The SPA area was very nice with multiple pools which all except the outside one had nice warm water to enjoy. In addition to that the saunas were amazing with choice for all, starting from the salt sauna where one could scrub themselves finishing with Finnish saunas.

We had a very nice corner room with a balcony overlooking the sea, it was quiet and we had a nice sleep!
The breakfast was very nice, with a lot of emphasis on local food and a waffle maker:)

I recommend this for a quick weekend getaway!
