The beautiful exterior of the Choral Shul intensified our disappointment at being unable to see for ourselves the interior of this iconic sole surviving memory of a bygone era redolent with hundreds of years of magnificent Jewish life and history. A must for a future...More

Beautiful synagogue - the only one remaining in Vilnius. We attended Friday night services led by the local Chabad Rabbi and loved the experience. The Rabbi and his family were very welcoming and invited us to join their lovely community dinner - which we also...More

It's definitely a place that's worth checking out. The synagogue was used as storage by the Nazis and the graveyard was destroyed. However, it's again functioning as a place of worship and the graveyard has been rebuilt. In addition, the decor inside is beautiful.

This is the last remaining synagogue in Vilnius. There were once over 100. I was quite surprised that not only was the synagogue open but there was literally no security - nor even anyone there. Built in the early 1900's (1906?). Beautiful inside and out....More

I saw this synagogue from outside. Looking interesting form outside but it was not open to enter inside.

It might be unfair to give this place a bad rating when I haven't been inside. But that is actually the main reason for my bad rating. The synagogue was closed to the public both times I went there during the daytime.

Must see place from architectural (unique design) and historical side of Vilnius. Pitty that only one working synagogue is left.

This beautiful shul is over 100 years old. There are prayers each morning at 8:30 and about 1/2 an hour before sunset. The Rabbi was extremely friendly and inquired if he could help anyway with our trip.

The inside of this temple is stunning and kept in good shape. The Cantor's wife answered all my questions about contemporary Jewish life in Vilnius and the diminishing number of congregants here. Upstairs (in the women's section) is the very large automated matzah making machine...More
