The Nerija peninsula is something you would never expect at these latitudes. Sand and dunes. Plan your day visit from Klaipeda and explore Nida first and then the Brown Dune. Astonishing.

If you have no time for Nida or Juodkrante, just take a 5 mins ferry over from the Old Terminal in Klaipeda to Smiltyne. It's a nice stroll through the pine forest to the sea coast. Off season on a weekday you would hardly meet...More

We rented a car in Klapedia and took the ferry over to the Spit. Drove down to Nida with the hope that my friend could rent a bike to ride back to Smiltyne. No bike shops open, only one restaurant in Nida. The dunes were...More

We arrive on a cruise. How far is the ferry to the spit from the cruise terminal and is there public transportation on the spit, e.g. taxi or bus?

There are two crossing points to the Spit. I suspect your ship will moor at the little ferry crossing (no cars). The public transport buses cross from the main terminal and larger ferry crossing point. Bus travel is in... More

More
