a quick stop
Dec 2019
If you are in Trencin you should make a quick stop in the Hotel Elizabeth to see this piece of history. As mentioned, you will need to take an elevator in order to view it through the glass.

Hidden behind the hotel
Jul 2017 • Family
Famous Roman insciption is hidden behind hotel Elizabeth. In order to visit, you have to enter the hotel and take a lift to the first floor and just follow the signs. It is free so do not hesitate to enter the hotel. You can see desciption and the rock, through the glass or you can go on the balcony and see it at different angle. It is only "few minutes" kind of attractions, where you go, read, take a photo if you want and leave. However it has very important historical value for the city of Trencin.

unique Roman inscription visible from hotel Elizabeth
Aug 2017 • Couples
It is the most important Roman epigraphic monument in Central Europe north of the Danube river, preserved „in situ“. It is a Latin inscription on the castle rock saying: „To the victory of emperors, dedicated by 855 soldiers of II. Legion of an army stationed in Laugaricio. Made to order of Marcus Valerius Maximianus, a legate of the Second Auxiliary legion.“ The authenticity of the inscription was made possible by the unique discovery in the Algerian town of Zana.
This unique monument carved to the castle rock, is visible from the restaurant or terrace of the hotel Elizabeth.
