Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Save time! For 13 Euros you can save maybe 90 minutes or more. In the times, when we were younger, we walked up with our big and heavy backpack to mountains, beut now, long after 50 it is a big help. Modernized, comfortable, it is really the 21th century.

Couldn't find the waterfalls of Hrebienok to review it, so write it down here.
Both ways we didn't used the funicular, and the way up is about half an hour or 40 minutes. After you going up, there is a trail to see the waterfalls and all the beautiful forest around.
Very nice hiking, excellent views, definitely worth a trip.

You have to try, especially with small kids or frailty person to get to hrebienok. It was a little bit more expensive and short. Lot of people around. Could get a discount with gopass, register and buy tickets online.

The funicular railway runs every hour and does the ascent in 11 minutes. It's a good way to gain height quickly if you walking and just as good for tired legs going back down.
It can get very busy and is a bit of a scrum sometimes, but it's capacity is usually adequate to get everyone on board.
Tickets are available to purchase at either end of the line.

We took the funicular from Stary Smokovec to Hrebienok to start our walk to Skalnate pleso. It is possible to go to other places as well. It takes only a few minutes and is comfortable.

While the cable car itself is rather good, it is not worth the high price. It stands as an alternative to a short and easy 30-45 minute hike and it does not actually save you any time because in between its departure times you can easily hike the distance, while being rather expensive (7€ per person for a one way ticket or 9€ for a return ticket) for such a short ride. The distance it covers can be easily hiked by everyone except people in very bad physical shape, so using an expensive cable car instead is not convenient but simply lazy.

This funicular has a huge plexiglass roof, so you can feel yourself like in a cabrio. The view is beautiful.
The tickets cost 8 euro for a single ride, then you can walk the footway down. But the price is 9 euros if you travel with the funicular up-and-down.
It was free of charge for our 4-year-old child.
Departure: every 30 minutes. The length of ride is 8 minutes.

We like the “lanovka” just each time having a problem when booking via gopass (need a card with you, didn’t receive confirmation email...) and can get very crowded.

My wife and I visited with our 2Y old toddler. We took the funicular to Hrebienok. It leaves every 30min (at least when we were there in mid Sep). There are fabulous views of the mountains and valley from the top. This is assuming it is not foggy. We had fog upon arrival so didn't appreciate the views. Luckily enough if faded after an hour and the views opened. at
We took a circular hike. Starting with the green trail, reaching the blue (blue and green go together for a while) and then connecting to the red which took us back. The views are spectacular and you walk some of the way along a river with several waterfalls. The green is not accesible to strollers so we walked with a baby carrier. If you come with a stroller you can walk on the red trail. It doesn't go down to the river but you still enjoy spectacular views. Just walk for a while and then retuen back.
Highly recommend. We came here after a few days in the low tatra mountains which are great as well, but the views here are of a different league.
Highly recommend.

Great way how to get to the heart of the High Tatras. It offers beautiful views of the surrounding national park. Might be a little pricy for somene though.

Is the cable car wheelchair accessible? Thank you.

Hi
The funicular itself should be ok as you just step in like a train. There were children in strollers. I do recall a few steps to get into the building so it would pay to double check with the funicular operator.
I think there were some ramps at the top end also.
The pathway itself, up to Hriebrenok, which runs alongside the funicular, is reasonably gentle (you can sled down) so if not icy would also provide an option. A long push for someone though, about a 45 min walk up. Sorry I can’t be 100% on this.
