An excellent and extraordinary experience.
We love this place.
Words and pictures are not enough, you must go there to see and feel it.
We went through many different hiking trails, some were crowded with visitors, a few trails were completely deserted and downright wild - we enjoyed both of them.

Good option if you're in the High Tatras area. I did the Sucha Bela route. No water in July so not so difficult. If you take the mountain bike back down, be warned that it's a mountain bike for a reason. The road is rough and steep in parts so be careful.
If you're coming from the High Tatras and don't have a car, you'll have to get to Poprad first and then probably take a taxi. There's a stand at the bus station. Get their number so you can call them to go back. Should be €18-20 each way. In theory you can do it by bus but I think it'd take a long time.

We went in Suchá Belá route. It was a 2 hour hike up the bend of the river with obstacles (steep ladders, chains, steps, rocks, water). Good shoes are needed. We went back with bikes from the mountain in 30 min (walk 2 hours) 7 eu each fir bike rent. Great experience!

A highlight of my trip to the area. Beware, we were there during the low season and the trails were still VERY busy. Stay away from the lakes to get a more secluded feel to the area.

Coming to Slovakia specially for this treat, I spent a weekend exploring this park place. During my marathon, starting from Podlesok, I visited Klastorisko, Tomasovsky vyhlad, Sokolia dolina, Palcmanska masa, Stratensky kanon and Dobsinska jaskyna, coming back to Podlesok by Sunday evening. I will not write how astonishingly beautiful and gorgeous the nature around me looked like - it looks much better than any image picture can convey. I would rather list some practical points from my hiking experience in Slovensky Raj:
* beware of downloading maps from the internet, some of them could be outdated
* the green-marked trails imply it is an easier but not the easiest way
* the trails may not be marked completely well everywhere
* the weather and shoes do make a difference
* better sure than sorry

We took Velky Sokol route which took us about 3 hours to get trough from our car (near Pila) which was parked 30minutes of walking from the beginning of the trail itself. The first hour or so is an easy walk through woods, then it gets a little bit more tricky. You have to go from one side to other over a small river many times and that's why it is strongly recommended to have proper hiking shoes otherwise there is a good chance to get wet feet. After around 1.5hours is the most interesting part - you have to climb over slippery wooden steps and logs over the mentioned river. The views are nice and worth to see.
Once we cleared the Velky Sokol it took us a good 3hours (including the part where we got a little bit lost due to lack of direction signs). Good thing is that way back is mostly downwards on paved track (not very interesting views along the way tough).

Interesting paths lead you across medium or difficult surroundings, so be ready to climb, run, hike, walk across rivers, ride a bike or whatever needed:)
Some of the signed itineraries are not well known and visited so be careful: lot of stairs/ladders /chains move or are broken and you may really hurt yourself if fall down in the valley/river.
Amazing, full of adrenaline, wild nature, spectacular views. I’m basically slovakian but travelled to slovakian hidden jems only this year!:) i recommend

Very nice option for just a walking and another excellent option to hiking! The weather change a lot during the day. If you are going in a long hiking, bring you stuff.

What time do the ticket booths open if we want to get an early start?
We got to the ticket booth in Podlesok a bit before 7, the ticket guy got there at 7 o’clock.
Ticket is 1.5 eur, parking 3 eur, and a map is 3 euro.
Hi, how many days would you recommend to spend there? Will three to four days be enough?

Yes, definitely. Actually, there is a lot of trails/gorges to choose from so it's not like you can't go on for a long time, but the scenery overall is pretty similar: Prielom Hornadu is a different type of scenery, but other gorges are similar type. And of course there is the ice cave if you travel more to the south of S.P., so this eats some time (assuming you are based in Podlesok/Hrabusice/Cingov etc). So I would actually say (at least if excluding trip to cave) that if you're a good fit hiker, so that you can do like 2-3 attractions during a single very long day hike, such 1 full day of hike is already acceptable and 2 hiking days is what easily allows you to feel "if I stayed longer there would still be things to do, but basically I already do know what this National Park is all about" - while if you don't do as large and long hikes, then 2 hiking days is already all well and fine, and 3 hiking days is what will still not make you bored. However - those numbers of days which I gave are hiking days i.e. you need weather for it, obviously this is always a lottery what you get when you come, and it's not safe to go to the ladders / metal steps during a rain as they get slippery. Not all days can be hiking days, and you can't predict this before you are at the spot and see the weather. Yet overall, if you have longer time to allocate in the area, I would devote more of it to High Tatras (with possibilities of adding Western or Low if you do have a lot) - Slovak Paradise is surely a must when you're in the area, but focusing too much on it might be an overkill: this is a unique style of a mountain range when compared to all the others, but individual places inside it are not that unique really compared one to each other.

Hi,
Is it possible to have a shorter walk through the park to reach the metal steps attached to rocks without going 16 km far?
Thanks for your help!

PS. So, for example, you might even do like two attractions - western half of Prielom Hornadu (metal steps), and Klastorska Roklina (ladders), to make it total into 10 kms (10 already including both going to the start of the steps, and return from the finish): mapa-turystyczna . pl/route/7zf2 (join the link - anti-spam filters)

Hello! We hv chosen the route "Sucha Bela".
how can we get there from Budapest?
Is it possible to travel without tour guide?
And we are planning to go Vienna afterwards, how can we get there?
Thank you!

Hello. If you don´t have a car available, from Budapest it is probably the easiest way to take a direct train to Košice and then take another train to Spišská Nová Ves. From Spišská it is only about 15 kilometers to Hrabušice, part Podlesok, where the Suchá Belá gorge starts and you can use some local bus or a taxi to reach the place. Then you can get to Vienna by a fast train from Spišská Nová Ves to Bratislava and from Bratislava another one to Vienna.

Hello can you let me know about the lower walking trails near Hrabuische thanks

You can enter the trail via Cingov or Harabusice. I recomend walking from Harabusice, due to the terrain being quite steep if you choose Cingov. It's suitable for children, but hiking boots and good weather are essential :) The trail lets you follow the river, but you won't really see any waterfalls. Hope this helps. ~Maria

hi! Don't choose the one with waterfalls. it will be hard for children if they are small or scary of height. The rest trails will be perfect for whole families :)
Hello All,
We'd like to visit 3 most popular journeys in Slovak paradise: Podlesok, Dedinky, Cingov.
Unfortunately, I can't find any information about them.
All of them begin from the same place?
If yes - what is a location?
If nor - what is a location of each one?
What details I need to enter in GPS?
