Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I grew up in this building. I always liked its architecture, even when it was not restored. Today it is beautifully renovated.
As to the exhibitions, there is a permanent exhibition on the ground floor. On the first floor you can see the current exhibition. The prices are reasonable however, by the opening of the current exhibition you can enter the gallery for free. The openings are often accompanied by concert or performance.

If you stay in Tatras and you want to spend a day with other activities than hiking, or if the weather is not favorable to go to the mountains, Poprad, the main city under the hills is a good choice - it is easily accessible by Tatra electric railway and apart from visiting main square and shopping area at namestie sv. Egidia, Aquapark or medieval urban reserve at Spisska Sobota, you can also go to Tatra Gallery, located in the very interesting building of former steam power station, just across from the Poprad railway station. Tatra Gallery features a permanent exhibition of art by prominent Slovak artists (including renowned artists like Albin Brunovsky, Ludovit Fulla and other), mainly those tied with eastern Slovakia and Tatra region and varying thematic exhibitions, often focused on modern art. The gallery also has a small branch in Stary Smokovec - Villa Flora, where exhibitions focus mainly on paintings and photography of Tatra mountains.

You might see the chimney first, so look out for it. This wonderful gallery is a recently restored one from an old steam power station, that originally connected to the train track to the Tatra's. These days, it is a wonderful modern art gallery hosting contemporary (when I visited) exhibitions or concert events. There is a cafe as well for a coffee before or after you're visit, excellent facilities for children's learning. When I was there they had an exhibition on Geometry with some fantastic stuff for all ages. Friendly staff too, a must when in Poprad!!

I cannot complain too much as I got the seniors' rate of €1.50. The exhibition had too much of commonness about it without much to capture the imagination or interest. The building is fascinating and nicely restored.

Surprised to find this exhibition in Poprad. Warriors and horses dating back to 260 BC. Very well designed with history in Slavic and English. There were many more figures than we expected and the gallery was not very crowded. Tatra Gallery is housed in a nice house close to the main station. The other art exhibits were ‘OK’ but go before August 22 to see the army.

Tatras Gallery was a restored building that looked like it was once a factory. Miroslav Cipár was the featured artist whose work resembled a cross between Picasso’s cubism stuff and Jackson Pollack’s drip/action paintings.
