The Colonnade Bridge (also the Glass Bridge) is a national cultural monument located in the town of Piestany above the river Vah. The work of architect Emil Belluš belongs to the peak of functionalist architecture in Slovakia. It is the longest covered bridge in Slovakia.
At the time of our visit, the road on the bridge was being repaired, but the "pedestrian" section was functional. The bridge separates the spa complex from the bustle of the city. So spa guests have their peace.

Vah river
May 2019 • Solo
I saw three bridge across the Vah river. I wondered how Váh was a wide river. The locals then informed me that the width of this river is changing a lot.

Beautiful Walks Along the River Váh in Piestany
Oct 2017 • Couples
When you walk north from the west bank of the bridge you will pass both the city park and the Dom Umenia (cultural center). Across from Dom Umenia is a pedestrian bridge that takes you to an island that extends for many kilometers between the River Váh and the Váh Canal.

When you walk south from the west bank of the bridge you will eventually reach the craft brewery Ziewell, and see the Váh widen into a reservoir. I have uploaded a photo from each direction.

Bridge to Spa Island
Apr 2018 • Couples
Walk from the city centre to Kupelny ostrov via Kolonadovy most. It could be in a better condition but still impressive and must visit. Do not miss the crutch-breaker statue at the bridge footstep, an original symbol of Piestany Spa

It's a bridge - that use to be loved in the 70's & 80's - but needs some LOVE now.

When communism ruled Slovakia and the former other republics, the Spa island here in Piestany was a place to visit for its healing properties, and the free healthcare/massages and treatments that were given to the Slovaks by the ruling communists. I guess this bridge was put up and the island made into a spectacular spa so people would forget they were missing out on the free market for 50 years. This bridge use to have amazing stores and shopping. It was an important meeting place. It was outstanding. Now? Well now it has stores that have faded posters in the window and very dirty windows to boot. It's now just a bridge, which lets you see a window (a dirty window) into a dirty history. As you walk along it, just think of how amazing it use to be, and how awesome it would be if the town decided to take care of it.

The bridge to spa island
Feb 2018 • Solo
This bridge has an interesting local history, ask the locals to tell you, it has a few little shops and swans on the river that always like to be fed. Look out for the old lady who sells popcorn , it's delicious, she usually stands at the edge of the bridge, she does not speak English but she is very sweet. When you cross over the bridge, there's a nice walk along the toe path, island side.
