We came to the gate, it was close, we asked to enter in English and got an answer in Slovak. Open just for groups more than 12

We visited the Military History Museum during our one-week stay in Piešťany. From the guide we learned many attractions. The museum presents exhibits from the end of World War II to 1992. Highly recommended to visit.

if you like military vehicles this is a place to visit, especially if you love tracked vehicles, and lots of tracked vehicles, but don't think its only vehicles they have planes and helicopters. allow around 4 hours with the guide to show you around, its amazing what is here. I have now visited about 5 times with different friends and each time I see what I missed the last time. yep its that amazing.

Very interesting things to see from the soviet side if you are a passionate. BUT the guide was only in Slovak language and she forced us to stay with her for the entire visit (almost 90 minutes) even if we couldn't understand a single word. You can book a guide English speaking only if you are 10 people or more. Anyway we pay only 1 euro per person so we can recommend it.

Very nice. All who like military will like it. We enjoyed it with kids. You can entry 3 times per day - be on time, check website. Explanations in Slovak language. To visit whole museum takes approx 2 hours.

We visited on Saturday 17th June 2017 on the 10am tour. About 18 people entered the gate which was opened precisely on time. There is ample parking in the courtyard carpark.

We were the only English speakers on the tour so whilst the main group got their commentary in Slovakian we were treated to a private commentary in English from the wonderful Matus. We started with the tank hall a few minutes after the main group. Matus gave us a thorough commentary on all the tanks and was very happy to answer questions. The display was complimented by a superb touch-screen multi-lingual information screen that covered all aspects and exhibits of the museum with pictures, facts and general descriptions. The second hall covers an array of armoured vehicles and the third includes a number of modern and vintage military aircraft as well as field warfare vehicles.

Outside on the apron and on the grass is one of the finest collections of Cold War aviation hardware in Eastern Europe. The exhibits include fighter jets, helicopters and military transport aircraft. There are numerous Mil helicopters, MiG fighters (lots of them!), Let 410s, Antonov 26, Yak-40, Sukhoi, Antonov 2, Ilyushin 28... to name only a few. The aircraft are fairly well positioned for photography and Matus was happy to let us stop at each one for photos. The aircraft are kept outdoors so some are showing the signs of the weather but this only served to make them more authentic.

The tour lasted approximately two hours but I think being in the private English speaking tour was a definite advantage as we were able to move at our own pace rather than being dependent on others in the larger group. As the title suggests, this is a tour for the discerning enthusiast so I suspect children won't be able to climb over the exhibits (a good thing in my book!).

All in all, a fantastic morning in a very interesting museum with a top guide. I would recommend a visit to anyone in the area. Check the museum website in advance for the set tour times.

Few minutes from center there is a massive array of historical war machines. Behind the metal fence there are halls hidding tanks, trucks, airplinas and there is also wast parking lot for airplanes and helicopters. Tours are every hour, and the guide knows everything about this machines. We also meet two airplane maintainence guys who were keen to share with us details about the airplanes. A must for machineheads and history lovers.

Had the privilege of getting a private tour of the museum. Great exhibition, with the largest collection of mig-21s in Europe. There is also a new touchscreen system (also in English) which gives a detailed overview of all the pieces of military hardware on exhibition.

Having read about the Military Museum
& deciding to go to Piestany to learn about the Slovakian military history we were very disappointed to find the museum closed...we eventually got hold of someone on the phone to be told that it was only open on a Monday!

We came here in the middle of July. Checked the website to ensure it was going to be open. When we arrived there was a note on the fence suggesting the place was going to be closed the entire summer. Awesome.
